Menu Crash workaround

I was having the problem of the game crashing to desktop when I accessed the menu more than a few turns after the game had started.

However I recently found that if I do a quicksave (CTRL+S) before hitting escape then the menu loads up fine.

Hope this helps anyone else having this problem.

(Feel free to move this somewhere more appropriate)
