I was wondering if anybody knew whether hedges and farm walls will be more of an obstacle in Rome than in Medieval. If they exist. I found it horribly unrealistic how you could not defend these obstacles as they formed no barrier to anyone, not even cavalry.

Also about rubble and collapsing walls. Will all buildings collapse? I also hated it when u set about destroying a few buildings whilst ur cavalry chased the enemy away and they collapsed like paper being flattened. If so are there any vidoes of this.

Thx. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-2thumbsup.gif

Well, there are no videos of it, but it looks like buildings will just burn to the ground, from what we have seen.

I really hope for the hedges/rubble stuff. It seems possible, seeing as we can garrison people in buildings, etc.

Yes, that would be really fun, realistic and another tactical quirck to pay attention to.

There was another thing that would be interesting, although difficult to implement: terrain conditions.

Ex: With rain, in muddy soil, the units would move slower and have varied combat penalties.

It shouldn't be to hard to implement. Its all statistical. When it rains, units speed is reduced till the end of the battle.

I hope they include it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-sunny.gif

It's not exactly that. I was talking about localized effects in the 3d map, like swamped areas, etc... A bit like tree penalties for cavalry in MTW.

Indeed Battles were often decided by walls and hedges. For example the battle of Neville's cross between the Scots and the English. The Scots had around 12000 men and the English 3000. The reason the English won was because they could hold the Scots in the centre and on one of their other flanks because of a stone wall and a horrible break in the land. Longbows of course helped but they alone couldn't have won the battle.
I have always found that it is a pain in the ass when I can't use hedges etc. to obstruct cavalry.

Dead elephants will obstruct units. Take a look at TC Raphia. Perhaps lots of dead soldiers or horses will do the same?
