Hi, I'm very n00b at is, and just started playing a week ago.
Now I've begun an easy early campaign with the Danes, and I built a trade center thingy and a port, but I don't see any boats? Do I need to construct them? How do I get boats? Because the port isn't giving me any income.

I'm sorry if this has already been brought up, but when I used the search, it showed me more than 6 pages of topics.

Thanks in advance.

You need to make a boat builder, in addition to the port.

Uhh... where do I get those? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-embarassed.gif Sorry, I don't have the manual either, cuz I loaned the game to a friend of mine.

I don't know off hand what other building besides a port is a prerequisite for a boat builder - maybe you need a higher level castle or something

You need a keep to build a shipbuilder. My build order for Denmark is trade, keep, port, shipbuilder. No units until I make my ships.

yeah, I tech straight for port, keep, shipwright in all my games.

trade income is insane if properly hooked up.

fort is 4 years, port is 4, keep is 8, shipwright is 4, boat is 3.

so 23 years until your ship hits the water assuming starting from scratch.

1k florins for the keep alone is kinda steep but the pay off is at least 20k per year if you have good network and nice trade provinces.
