http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-wall.gif Okay, I had just spent well over an hour on a reply that was fairly long. I go to preview it before I post, and suddenly I get a screen that says I am not allowed to post Whats more, I find out that I am no longer logged in, and can't go back and copy what I wrote http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-computer.gif I had just wasted over an hour of my precious time (to me) on something I can't even prove existed, much less share with the .Org http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif
To whoever is responsible: your a @%^$~`&#@%^*#$@# french person
On a calmer note, I think what happened might be some sort of forced log out that occurs after a set amount of time. If so, I understand the necessity, as there have been times I get up to go somewhere and close WinExp without logging out. However, I still want to hurt someone. And I'm not really picky about who. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-furious3.gif

Bummer about losing an hour's worth of time. I've had similar things happen, but not here (I think). Probably my biggest pet peeve is having to re-do something I've already done once, so I can understand your frustration.
Sometimes these boards have a difficult moment and funny things happen. That may have been the case for you. To my knowledge there is no timeout feature.
I gather you were not able to use the back button on your browser to recover the text?
I have had similar things happen on boards. Maybe the website went down or was taken down for maintenance. In this case, I just go back to the page with my text and copy the whole thing and then go create a word document on my own comp. When the site comes back up I copy out of the word document back into the forum and post. Most of the time if I am writing something really long I will copy it once in a while anyway, just in case. Then if something happens (like the boss walks in and I have to close my browser) I haven't lost everything I have written.

HHHHUUUUUMMMM. Gregoshi's the moderator. The rest of us are just nice, friendly, humble folks. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif When I was new to the Forum, I ran into the same problem. Our earnest moderator might have additional info, but it seemed to me that I couldn't post more often than every ninety seconds. But that doesn't seem to have been your problem. As Gregoshi said, using the back button in times of stress will return you to your reply page, thus saving your text. I believe the problem is simply that the Org gets bombarded with high volumes of traffic at times. It does clear out eventually.
Enjoy your stay

actually, if it said you were not allowed to post, it probably meant you were unable to post in that specific forum due to rank, in which case, if you want to kill someone, go find tosa.

Yeah, the 'back' button would not take me back, so I could not just copy it, and forward didn't work either. So it really, really sucked, especially since I was blowing time that I should have been doing homework I still remember my main points, so I should be able to redo it. Maybe it is just as well, since I have since realized that it would be more appropriate to start a new thread rather than post it as a reply, which is what I was trying to do.
As to hurting someone, I meant physically, and none of you were around, so you are safe. Besides, I would never, ever, hurt Gregoshi.
