http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Anybody know.
I was thinking of dropping most Javelin units froma late era mod I'm fiddling with as I can't seem to find any mention of there use after 1300. This could however be my limited source material, so thought I'd better check that I'm not acting anachronistically. I was also wondering how widely used they were in the High Era.
Thanks for any info folks it will be much appreciated.

Interesting question. I suspect the most recent use of javelins was the Anglo-Zulu wars but that is sort of a special case, as is the use of atlatl + javelin against the Conquistadors by Aztecs. There may also have been use of the javelin in the French and English colonial wars in the middle east (frex the Mahdi's forces) and India.

However, it does seem that the middle ages is the last gasp of the javelin in a technically developed army.
