Rules about using images in your Sig?

I've checked the forum Rules and the first page of the Read This First post, and I don't see an answer...

Can I place an image in my Sig line? The fact that the forum doesn't allow Avatars suggests that this would be inappropriate. But then the Read This First post explains how to post images Also several people seem have sig images (but they are more senior than nuby little me http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif )

I think the rules goes:

You can place an image in your siggy but it must be no bigger than a stamp. Unless the person was joking when they said that .... meh

...it can be bigger than a stamp, but the filesize can't go over 10kb.
