You need to make a copy of your MTW folder and then install NTW into that copy. It will make changes to your normal game.

What he said basically, just install mtw to a new location and install over that fresh installation.

If you install it over your normal MTW install then it will screw that up. Like CBR said, the best idea to just to copy your MTW folder (or install a new one since you may get errors from your edited files).

I get that too. I think thats probably the reason you need to have a seperate install of MTW.

MTW is limited in modding in the sense there are a limited amount of slots available for these unitgraphics. Since NTW has new unitgraphics it means that the official unitgraphics have to be overwritten.

So when you play a MTW battle the engine tries to display the original graphics but this is no longer possible as they no longer exist.

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-inquisitive.gif was that a bit clear?

This is the problem with most mods that have new unitgraphics. ME:TW, H:TW and N:TW are examples.

Open up My Computer or Windows Explorer. Go to the folder where you can find the folder wherein MTW is installed. For example in C:\Program Files\ you will find Medieval - Total War\

Now select the installation folder (Medieval - Total War in this example). Copy the folder. Do this either by pressing CTRL + c OR by right-clicking on the folder and select Copy.

Then paste the installation folder. Do this either by pressing CTRL + v OR by right-clicking on the screen and select paste.

You should now see a progress bar, when it is finished you will see a new folder called Copy of Medieval - Total War (if you an English Windows version). You can rename this folder by right-clicking on the folder and select Rename.

Have fun playing the mods
