Invading the Vikings

Sorry if I am asking the obvious, but how do I invade the Viking Homelands? Non-vikings only seem to get longboats, so I can't cross the North Sea. Can I still win a total victory if I don't take them?

I am playing my first real campaign in the Viking era, and I love it It seems much more challenging that the other eras. I was certain my brave Irish were finished on a number of occasions, but now I have the upper hand and it is obvious I am heading for a major show down with the Vikings.

you don't have to take the viking homelands for a total victory. If you really want them you have to use bribery

bribery is the only way. no regular ships can cross over from the island.

Yeah, bribery is the only reasonable way.

However, you can have fun converting the vikings. Make all of them christian, and you get a warm fuzzy feeling, like a large easter bunny (the feeling, not you).
