Interesting idea vlad. I'm sure there are some who would like to play such a scenario. My question to you is what would set this mod apart from the others? If it is just MTW with a modified map, then there might not be much of an interest. You need a hook that sets the mod apart from the rest.

i was planning making new units..
that is as far as i know i can do... the files and such. I dont know how to actually change the map. I have tried and I have / had no luck with it. So if some would like to help wiht that part Id be greatful.. I'll be making custom maps, new units, and such. Guns will be availible to all in the begining untill the building are dystoyed in that prov. so they sorta become a lost techongly. The pope is still around, barly as most clans have resorted to paganism. most of the units wont be heavliy armored. but i was wondering if it is possible to have units fight with swords in each hand.

Hmmm, a world map similar to the one in RoN but with more provinces. This would be great

I think its a clever concept. A sort of medieval apocalypse? When we play MTW and STW the emphasis is on technology and development and churning out crack troops, but it would be interesting to play in a poor and barren continent that somehow imposes limits on troops types to make special ones rare and spectacular. I say make it http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-2thumbsup.gif

I agree with Bayushi. If you could limit not only the number of quality troops, but the number of troops in general, everyone would be forced to be much more careful with when and how they fight, because they don't have the capability to just churn out more troops to replace the ones they loose.

You could make certain buildings 'unique', meaning each faction could only have one at a time, unless they manage to conquer another faction's province and capture their version of the building. Makes defending your homelands that much more important...

Alternatively, you could use fake 'tradegoods' or 'resources' to define where units of various types can be trained. For example, mounted units could only be trained on plains, armoured units in areas with iron and coal for steel, things like that.

Of course, an easy way to limit troop numbers is to jack up support costs compared to income...

Sounds good as the only challenging campains in Shogun is where each clan starts out with 1 territory or if you played as the Oda clan in 1580 where the army still consists of peasants and you are facing a high teched Japan.

The only thing I wonder is loyalty. In Shogun the A.I. had a little cheat help and had a lot less loyalty problems. This is why in Shogun starting with 1 territory helped the A.I. as they could expand faster because they had less loyalty problems plus the fact that you had a nasty clan next to you or by the time less than 50 percent of Japan is Ronin, some clans are eliminated. This makes the A.I. less likeley to fight themselves.

Hey Vlad, if you are interested in this idea, you should definitely definitely definitely read 'A Canticle for Liebowitz':

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
Walter M. Miller's acclaimed SF classic A Canticle for Leibowitz opens with the accidental excavation of a holy artifact: a creased, brittle memo scrawled by the hand of the blessed Saint Leibowitz, that reads: Pound pastrami, can kraut, six bagels--bring home for Emma. To the Brothers of Saint Leibowitz, this sacred shopping list penned by an obscure, 20th-century engineer is a symbol of hope from the distant past, from before the Simplification, the fiery atomic holocaust that plunged the earth into darkness and ignorance. As 1984 cautioned against Stalinism, so 1959's A Canticle for Leibowitz warns of the threat and implications of nuclear annihilation. Following a cloister of monks in their Utah abbey over some six or seven hundred years, the funny but bleak Canticle tackles the sociological and religious implications of the cyclical rise and fall of civilization, questioning whether humanity can hope for more than repeating its own history. Divided into three sections--Fiat Homo (Let There Be Man), Fiat Lux (Let There Be Light), and Fiat Voluntas Tua (Thy Will Be Done)--Canticle is steeped in Catholicism and Latin, exploring the fascinating, seemingly capricious process of how and why a person is canonized. --Paul Hughes

Anyway, I'm sure there are better reviews on the net so have a look. Nevertheless, the setting ios one of a re-emergent dark age society on the North American continent complete with warlords and warriors. Like most post-Apoc games, there is probably some room for weird modern technology. It could indeed be a very interesting mod.

I am trying but it seems like im having a problems some where i dont know where.. each prov only has one region. and the rest are rebels. I think it might have to do with the over population of rebels.. not sure.. will keep u up dated...

Ooh, it could be like Reign of Fire without the dragons ... err, without the fire, I guess.
Or Waterworld, without the water...
Or The Time Machine, without the time machine. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-jester.gif

I'll stop there.
Great idea, anyway. It might take a bit of balancing, but it would certainly bring a completely different style of play to the game.

Good luck http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-2thumbsup.gif

why balence? is REAL life blanced? not at all. :D i do plan on doing SOME balenceing ( nice spelling huh lmao) but not a hole thing to make things fare. I'm looking for a game where fighting isnt everything.. were/ how and why you attack has a greater effect then anything. for intecne, english, ( for right now) only has Wessex as a region they, have to units that no other can get. long bows and clansmen. spain has better cav then any one else. hungry has better fire power but a weakness there is, if thebuilding collapse, u are screwed. i have made the game go from 2099 to 2500 its over 500 years of rebel fighting and expanding. rebels will also revolt. most ergions have at LEAST A 2. so it be like scottland.some trading goods have became rare.. like gems.. so the price is high. unlike cotton, and fur i have lowered. i hope to get a beta out some time within a month :) or maybe 2...

LOL. Actually by balance I didn't mean make it fair, I just meant avoid rapid expansion or rapid implosion of the AI factions, with the rebels being so abundant.

You should back it unbalanced as if
it was balanced it would be semi-stupid and you might as
well have put in AS(Artificial Stupidity http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-jester.gif ) not AI

Quote[/b] ]Actually it could be like in War & Peace
the An Empire or Nothing Campaign http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/medievalcheers.gif
