View Full Version : Rome Total War AI
I have heard a lot of talk about Rome total war lately. Yet I have heard nothing of the AI. With the new strategic map in place how will the AI be able to cope? It could have trouble with the old risk type map now with the new more complex map I am wondering if it will be competitive and clever?
Well, given the vast scope and staggering attention to detail and complexity that CA is putting into the rest of the game, it would be proverbial suicide for them to include crappy AI. The STW and MTW AI is more than compentant to putting up a challenge, so I've personally little doubt that they'll put lots of attention to AI. Hopefully, especially in the Strategic portion of the game, as, with the expanded diplomatic model and more strategic options available, the AI will be adaptive and not scripted. Imagine AI that will learn your tactics and how best to counter them? That recognizes the value of chokepoints and rich territory? AI that alters its behaviour to match the personality of each king, that effectively 'role-plays' its leaders? Hopefully, and I'm confident they will, they'll be able to create AI that satisfactorily simulates a real human mind in both breadth and randomness of thinking... Adaptiveness is king.
