Inquisitors

Is there anything to gain by leaving your inquisitors in your own provences or should they be used strictly as 'religious assassins' to root out the wicked (e.g. the generals and provences who piss you off)?

You can use them to increase zeal in your own provinces, which is handy when you want to launch/pass crusades there. Keep them in your provinces for no more than two, at most three turns, that is before they start frying people on the stake, which drops happiness and consequentally loyalty.

keep cardinals and bishops there with the inquisitor if you want to keep him there for more than a few turns.

this way, the zeal is raised more slowly but there isn't frying people that destroys zeal, happiness, and agricultural income.

Yeah, it increases zeal for a few turns, but then zeal drops dramatically. It's actually useful tho, if an AI crusade is going through your lands, and you don't want it sucking up your troops.

I like cheesy tactics more than most, but the ability to use more than one inquisitor on the same victim in the same turn is really too much.

It's the opposite of a hung jury. If one inquisitor finds your guilty, you're dead.

It is just so effective in reducing all my catholic rivals to having no better than 2*s within a few decades after my castilian grand inquisitors come on line.

If your inquisitor it busy burning your generals, he won't kill of your population.

If you got multiple inquisitors in one province, try sending all of them on one general. If you only send one, they won't burn the population if the inquisitor succed, but they will if he fails.

I've gotten 100% zeal in asia minor so it's quite possible to get high zeal in all your empire.

High zeal also improves your chances to succed with the inquisition to a maximum of 25% for faction leaders.
