I think CA have been listening to us.

When watching Time commanders, Silarus River episode I saw gladiators stretching, sitting and then standing up. Saw peasants coughing and sneezing.
Now all CA has to do is make them sing songs and chants and cheers. And a few scratching their buttocks and heads.

Is it true about the barbarian factions like the Gauls and Britons have women who taunt and shout at the enemy? Ign said they did, is it true?

yes, one of the CA guys in the gamespot trailers said that... Germans only AFAIK.

What i would realy like to know is about something i posted a long time ago.

Slow motion.

Be it a possible ingame feature just the opposite of speeding up the game or a replayable feature.

Well apparently when a gen dies it zooms in and shows in slow motion, think i heard that somewhere. Nice feature better not be in multi tho as theres always work to do in mp no time to watch slowmo action replays in game :)

Umm slow motion and barbarians taunting. I won't even ask what it is that you want to see in slow motion http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif

HA He taunts you a second time http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

CA really have done a great job at making this game a truly cinematic experience. It’s something that makes CA games all the more special. There bloody beautiful as well as great fun

I love all the little things, the attention to detail, the gestures, the grass, the sky, seasonal changes, the road in the recent Trailer having grass appearing / snow melted around it whilst the rest of the landscape is snow covered, the marching sound synchronised with the great marching animations, the out of sync cavalry units and animations etc etc It all makes for a very immersive gaming environment.

With regard to the Trailer, I do have a few concerns
Concerns that the Britons, Gauls and Germans will be relegated to overly simplistic existence / military structure etc. I have no doubt that CA will depict many of the historic abilities of the Greeks and Romans, but many here feel the aforementioned will be overlooked.

Captain Fishpants, can you please forward the following concerns to the rest of the CA team. Concerns:

* That the Britons have SIEGE TOWERS. CA themselves have often stated that the “barbarians” weren’t as advanced in siege engineering as their Southern neighbours. In this case they are spot on. Historically the Celts didn’t build siege towers until the middle of the last century BC … the Germans never in this period. It should be extremely difficult for Celts to develop this technology and probably impossible for the Germans. The same for SIEGE ARTILLERY. Ladders and primitive battering rams will suffice and in-keeping with the general direction CA have developed the “Barbarians”.

* Minor thing but the volcano SMOKE needs slowing down a bit. A general rule of thumb, the larger the area / fire the slower the billows of smoke.

* That the Celts in the Briton and Gallic factions are carrying the same ROUND SHIELDS given to the Germans. If the Germans are generally given the round shields, make a cultural distinction and give the Celts the classic oval shields.

* That the Celts in the Briton and majority of Gallic faction should not have the BEARDS so common amongst the Germans. Again, make a cultural distinction in factions.

* The omission of an important Celtic ability, SAPPING. Sapping was the preferred Gallic siege technique and was noted several times by Caesar. Please give some of the Celtic units a sapping ability.

* The omission of an important Celtic ability, TESTUDO. Again, in combination with sapping, the Celts are well documented in the use of a testudo to get under the walls. Please give some of the Celtic units a testudo ability.

* The omission of important Gallic and Germanic abilities, SHIELD WALL and PHALANX. The Gauls and Germans would often form a shield wall and occasional phalanx. Both these features are well documented in classical texts. Please enable a shield wall, phalanx ability with some of the Gallic and Germanic units.

* The omission of an important Celtic ability, MULTIPLE WEAPONS. It appears CA will be depicting Celtic warbands as either swordsmen or spearmen. Celtic warriors generally carried at least one throwing spear and the Celtic long-sword into battle. For those so armed with the sword, please give them the ability, like the Roman Legionary, to throw before closing with the sword.

* It seems the Romans Legionaries generally fight with sword by default and are only seen throwing the PILA. Please make it possible to retain the pilum as thrusting weapons for use against cavalry etc.

* In a similar vein, the Celts would use the SPEARS and form shield walls / phalanx against cavalry, like they did to defeat Caesar’s cavalry on occasion. Please give the Celtic units the ability to retain their spears.

* Michael DePlater gave a rather humorous, personable and interesting interview to IGN. In that interview he mentioned that the “Barbarians” will not be able to build big stone FORTIFICATIONS. Whilst the Gauls never built fortifications to the same scale as seen in Italy and Greece, they did build impressive stone Oppida. Please make it possible in the very advanced techs for the Celts to build stone fortifications in the Celtic model.

I can provide references and other material for the above if you require.

Captain Fishpants, if you can assure us that senior CA staff have noted these concerns, I myself will, and encourage others likewise, to cease all further remonstration http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-yes.gif
