Does anyone know if CA are going to keep that slashing animation that the Legionars do in Rome total war. I was under the impression that the Gladius was used to stab pretty much 100% of the time.

I remember a discussion about this subject some time ago in the Colosseum. The conclusion was that, based on the Time Commander episodes we had seen so far, the legionaries did stab quite often.

I guess even the use of the gladius is subject to the time the game is set - in latin it is the general word for sword used in accounts of Caesar and Scipio Africanus - I don t remember them describing the use though but there are a lot of history buffs on this board to dig that information out for us http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

I hope they get it accurately and don t blunder with Roman battle tactics like Ridley Scott in Gladiator (and I m not even mentioning the saxon helmet http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif )

the hacking would be accurate for foreign recruited troops later although they didn t use the classical gladius.

I think this thread belongs into the colloseum and we both will find lots of animated and sourceful discussions there regarding your question - one of the reasons I love this board - my kudus to the moderators and fellow posters.
