I often like to think that once your Modded campaign (in my case Super Early) appears on the Campaign selection screen, you have nothing to worry about. Yet isn't it annoying when you get a CTD as you pick a faction and wait for it to load. It gets to about halfway and stops.
Now normally when this happens to me its to do with having religious specific units in contrasting religious provinces (like religious fanatics in Constantinople) but on this particular occassion I don't think it is. I've created a new map and was fixing the borders and now it won't work. I'm sure seasoned modders have had similar problems with their campmap before. Post here all the problems that were behind you campaign CTD as it loaded up here please, because I'm stumped http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-wall.gif Hopefully you can help me out here

Its always hard to know what it is that causes the CTD BKB, I feel ur pain.
Have u tried minimising the game after its frozen, then re-maximising it. Sometimes, this makes an error message appear which then gives u a clue as to what caused the error.

Yeah sometimes those messages come up but they're not in this case. I can't minimize it because it crashes to quickly http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

The same happend to me and I found the solution but I am not sure how.
First: I defined ALL THE SURFACE OF THE MAP. In the first version I had a disabled land region, and I defined this region as the other ones.
Second: I completed the Mod_region_specific.txt file with ALL THE NAMES of the regions and castles, to fit exactly with the names of the Mod.txt file in startpos.
Third: I included descriptions (simply the name) of all the new units in descriptions.txt
Fourth: be sure you have all the folders and files necessary (for example: Textures\campmap\Castleflags) that fit with the names of the factions present in the Mod.
I do not remember if I did anything else, but in any case my Mod started, but crashed after the first turn http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif
Tomorrow I will study this new problem.

This is really bugging me Yesterday the new map was working like a charm. I did some editing in the Startpos and the Region_Specific file and it CTD as it loaded up a campaign. Okay I thought, must be the new things I added. I went back to the original, based on the old map, added the new province info in (in the new order) but there was a CTD again I really think its a problem with the region specific file Since it was working okay I've edited the region lost, region relieved, Amir of and Duke of parts. Could this cause the game to CTD?
Wierdly enough, when it first started doing it, it once worked as the English and CTD after the first turn. But then, it hasn't worked for the English since Inconsistencies like this really worry me - I need big help guys http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-confused.gif

Quote[/b] ]I've created a new map and was fixing the borders and now it won't work.
Did you use LMM? You do know that LMM is designed for MTW1.1 and you will need to edit some files to get the map working for VI?
Some months ago I made a working campaign map for Ancients: Total War (may it rest in pieces). I did this very cautious. Do little steps at a time, forget your own techtree/factions/graphics, etc. Start with existing stuff, you know it works so you can quickly locate a problem.
A while back I also converted a Middle Earth map for MTW1.1 to VI and I did by changing all tags to Region##, Name##, Faction##, so abstract. I gave the provinces/castles their names as late as possible and that made the campaign file very universal. You can almost use it for every campaign as long as the number of regions corresponds with your map. You then start up your campaign and make a table to see which Region## corresponds with your province name http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-anxious.gif ...sometimes I think that I am spending way too much words, you'll see.
I don't know if this reply relates to your question, but I think I am top of somehing; namely a universal campaign file that can be quickly adapted by just editing the amount of regions and by naming the regions only in the Loc files. This will make it far more easier to make new campaign files. The difficult part is making the white map with pink borders for LMM, but that is more laborous then really difficult.
http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-yes.gif this is gonna work, I'm gonna ponder over this for a while...

I have created a map for the SP Reconquista campaign, with no important problems (only the normal for a beginner with LMM). It is only necessary to carry out the map-test until all the regions are correctly defined. Then the programm makes the rest. However, it seems that LMM only works with the faction names included in MTW. I tried it with FN_01 (as in VI) but an error message told me the faction was unknown.
In fact I think the most important problems come with the script generation. From the second time I tried it, I found problems (something related to the palette). Even when the maps are correctly created.
Regarding to malfunction of a map after changes in the script, it seems that it is very important to be careful with the tabs and blank lines, in order the script to be "readable" by the game.
I would recommend to start again with the good version and try the small changes one by one (everybody says the same). I lost several days trying to do everything at the same time.

It has worked Duke John - it's the first map I have made with the LMM but I saw how it's done in the VI and adapted it. It worked fine yesterday but now everything's gone pear shaped http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-confused.gif
Having cut the startpos down to the bare minimum (it worked with more stuff yesterday) I can REALLY only presume its a problem with the EarlyRegionSpecific file. Very important - has anyone ever had a problem and found it was down to this file? Just list any solutions you found for campaigns that crashed at the loading up stage

I'm going insane here - I used my original Super Early and did EXACTLY the same thing to add the new provinces before but its STILL not working http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-furious3.gif Getting very angry now. What the hell is wrong with it? Is there anyway you can see what the problem is whenever it crashes? Sometimes a message comes up but nothing is coming up when it crashes. I can't minimize it because it just crashes rather than freezes http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

If u backed up, then try replacing the bits u edited before it started crashing with the old version one by one and test after each edit. That way u might find the problem without having to start again.
(I'd backup the brocken version as well before u start this)
If it doesn't work, get drunk and all ur problems will dissapear http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cheers.gif

When I was removing regions from the VI map I got the following CTD:
Campaign loads for 50% and then hangs, no CTD
Problem 1: This occured when I was disabling certain regions. To fix this you must be absolutely sure that no there traces in entries that deal with enabled lands.
First check wether you have the right regions in the entire campaign file (setregions/origins/castles/attributes, starting units/buildings). Also check RegionSpecific.TXT, there shouldn't references to provinces that are not declared, but there should be for the ones that have been. I found this much easier if you just name all the regions Region## and only translate up to the very last stage in RegionSpecific.TXT. That way you can easily see if you miss something.
If that doesn't work, you may have a tab wrong. Just copy an original line for everything and copy it, with Region## you can quickly do this for all the regions as you only have to change the number.
Good luck and do not despair http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-2thumbsup.gif

Still no luck and I'm desperate. DJ would it be possible for me to send you the region specific file and the startpos tomorrow, see if you can make anything of them? Bear in mind the ID's for the new regions (Bosnia, Gascony, and so forth) DO work. I'm hoping you'll spot any tabs, things that don't match in the two files, omissions and so forth. A third person viewer might take a better approach than me. I'm sick of it at this stage (Of course, I'd send you the map too so you could test it but it's too big and these are the only two files I've been editing)
If you would do this, please PM me your e-mail address. Thanks.

Have u edited the campmap itself or just the txts. If so have u checked that the TGA u used works?

The map has worked before so it can't be. It's stopped working since I made a few changes to the text files, though I don't know what the hell it is I've done
