I keep getting errors when zipping a folder

I want to have a zip file that contains a folder that contains the files. This way when it's unzipped it will just be a folder with files in it. It works with winRAR but I read that zip is preferable so I'm trying to do that.

I keep getting an error saying "missing or empty zip file". Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong. My e-mail is shakespearean_poet@hotmail.com

No idea on why you'd be getting that error, unless there aren't any files inside that folder. Anyways, WinRar should allow you to compress files as .zip and well as .rar
