chances are, everyone in here at some point in time becomes someone else's computer technician. without constant updating and maintainence, your average PC (with internet) has a lifespan of about 3 months before it's so loaded with spyware, trojans, viruses, and other crap that it's about as effective as a toaster.

so it's good to know just which helpful (http://www.datadocktorn.nu/us_frag1.php) websites are probably not the best ones to go to for information on fixing a sick computer.

That's insane, it's hardly even trying to be a fake help site...

Don't be surprised, it won't look like the disc on your turntable.

rofl class The reading-nerd device sometimes becomes dirty, mainly due to junk mail and infections (viruses). To make it shiny and bright again, simply use a toothbrush with some oil (10-40w) , then you'll lubricate it at the same time , to flies on one blow (old Swedish saying).
Don't förgett to wash the toothbrush after you're done, data doesn't taste so very good...

I've been working in IT for 12 years and this is the first time I've seen these techniques explained in such a clear way.

I recommend anyone that hasn't visited the website go there immediately. It will certainly help people that cannot afford to buy new PCs for RTW.
