It's surprising how much goats can eat.

A recent rainy day. Somehow the spider held on.

The landscape on that same day. A pity the cloud detail wasn't captured.

A foggy day. You can see the goat area in the center on the left side. The white box is a shelter.

And finally, a sunny day.

The other sets are good. This set is sheer genius.

Sheer poetry. It reads like a novel. There is not a single soul in sight, in any of the pictures. And yet, or perhaps because of that, it captures the soul of France so perfectly, so gently.

Happy to hear you had a good time!

Oh... my... ***!!
What is the trick Mith? got to be some clue in the pictures I guess.

Yes that is correct. Not the most expensive camera - but my first digital SLR camera.
I have an ancient Pentax P30n with a Tokina 35-70mm 1:2.8 lens and was bummed that the lens didn't fit the Nikon house.
I'll play around with it to get into taking photos again. Then.... maybe I'll get a more advanced camera.

Why would you? Unless you plan on going Pro, as far as I've seen it with my brothers D3000, you can practicly do everything with the camera you can do with mine, save some pro features.

As long as it's just hobby, the D3000 is a great camera I think. You'd be better of investing in some more glass first. (cheapo 50mm 1.8 @ €95,- is a nice addition, or ofcourse a 18-200/70-300 to get some more range). Glass doesn't lose value nearly as fast as camera's.

What'dya pay for the body/kit? D3000 sell for €309,- here body only, or €370,- including the 18-55.

I'll go out and shoot something today too, business is slow anyway :shame:

Thanks. That shot is actually a close-up of the snow cover of a tree. Here's three more examples, first and last from the ground and the second at an extremity of a branch of some plant:

https://img534.imageshack.us/img534/4873/p1130032.jpg

I guess that the chrystals form in a combination of the short days and the reflective nature of the snow cover, making sure that they don't reach positive degrees C. They probably have a name.

The funny thing is, it probably means something entirely harmless in Mexico, but here in the UK it refers to women like this one (http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00822/Sophie-Reade-280_822912a.jpg), who won Big Brother last year. Silly, airheaded young ladies.

Means the same thing here in the States. According to wiki:

The name "Bimbo" has no specific meaning in Spanish; thus, the name has not caused significant uproar as it would in the United States, where the word "bimbo" has a negative connotation. The official version has it that the name Bimbo, coined in 1945 when the company was rebranded from its previous name, Super Pan S.A., was chosen because the company thought it competed well with the existing Bambi and Dumbo brands in Mexico. In addition, the innocent, childlike name went well with the brand image they wanted to build.

In Mexico as in some Latin American countries, it is common to refer to any bread brand as "pan bimbo" (bimbo bread) instead of the proper "pan de caja" (loaf of bread). The name "Bimbo" has almost become a synonym for bread. The brand is highly trusted for quality and taste, and is known to have one of the most expansive distribution networks in Latin America, often making it available even in the most remote places.

In German "Bimbo" is actually a synonym for the N-word.
It's sometimes used as a swearword to denounce someone as well.
It's a nice picture Secura, at first I thought it was cut out of an advertisement because of the way you're holding it. :laugh4:

I wonder what 'Wanka' actually means in Peru, though...

They are a football team from Huancayo. The term comes from the "wankas" or "huancas" people from whom the region takes its name.

They also sell Bimbo in Perú. Another less well known one is "Fanny Atún" (Fanny Tuna). It's all hysterical for the first few minutes, but then you realise that there are plenty of english words that sound like swearwords in other languages as well.

It has been a while since I've posted pictures from the School of Rock shows I photograph. So here are some shots from recent shows.

This young lady has the most incredible voice. She has auditioned for the TV show Glee this month. This particular picture was published in the local newspaper in an article about her audition effort.

I like this shot because the drummer was very animated in his drumming. I went black and white for this picture because the lighting on the drums was rather dark and digital noise was a problem. However, making it into a B&W picture turned the digital noise into a kind of grainy looking film shot.

I visited Gettysburg on Friday. The weather was threatening and I was mostly shooting film(!), but I did get out my DSLR to take some shots of the Masonic Memorial "Friend to Friend" in the National Cemetary Annex. The statue depicts General Armistead in the aftermath of Pickett's Charge handing his Masonic watch to a Union captain and fellow Mason to be delivered to Union General Hancock (his close personal friend who was also wounded in the attack).

https://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h12/gbresslr/Org%20Pictures/RS_Gettysburg2010May28_03f.jpg

The detail in the figures is amazing. Note the bullet hole in Armistead's jacket arm - there is an exit hole for the bullet partially visible at the bottom edge of the picture (bad cropping on my part).

Looks like some sort of AR-15, if I'm not mistaken (angle makes it kinda hard to tell). Not every indoor range allows rifle ammo to be fired, so good for you on having such a place. In fact, I've never been to an indoor range that was rifle-friendly, although obviously they exist.

You're right. Although they do have frangible ammo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frangible) nights where rifles can be used, only pistol calibers are allowed most of the time. The gun is a Cx4 Storm (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beretta_Cx4_Storm), a little 9mm carbine my dad picked up. I usually hate Beretta anything, especially the 92, but this thing is great fun at the range. Plus it looks like something out of Starship Troopers.

One nice thing about 9mm anything -- cheap ammo. Takes some of the sting out of a day at the range.
