Is there any mod out there or has anyone put any thought in to such a mod?

Sadly, no. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-no.gif
This is due to the fact that creating such a mod would mean building an entirely new campaign map. You would probably have to reprogram the game, which is immpossible unless you're a hacker. However, there is a really good mod out there called Napoleonic Total War, which uses musketeers and other units seen in the Civil War.

Not at the moment, I believe that the Lordz are planning to make one in the future.

I don't know where you got that idea from, but it's pretty easy to make new campaignmaps. It takes some time and freely available tools made by members, but you are certainly not required to reprogram the game.
The only program with this kind of mod might be the engine. It is designed for combat and you cannot entrench troops which was pretty important in the Civil Wars, right? I think you have to wait till the Lordz do something and perhaps you should know best, looking at your name.
Good luck, Duke John

^Not until the end, when the advances in riflery were aparent. They did take cover behind a number of fences and what not.
Dude's,
There is a whole online community playing a home spun, MTW style American Civ War campaign. Anyone's free to download and get jiggy. I've visited the site and it looks fairly Kewl. However this was two months ago and I haven't held onto the Address. But I got the link for this forum so someone will know. Try posting the question in few other rooms.

The Lordz are indeed making a new map. This needs working with the luk map concepts.... it's hard for me to explain. Lord of Storms may be able to tell you more.

An ACW mod is possible for MTW .
As LX has pointed out we have made a map and also
we have done some experiments with units .
Such as trying to make the cavalry simulate dismounting
to fire . This is possible after a fashion .
A map can be made and a secario designed for a campaign
An ACW mod for MTW would present obsticals , just as
a Napolionic mod would . Both consist of elements that are not suited to each other let alone MTW .Yet with a bit of imagination and a willingness, to understand the limits imposed by the engine , then what's to stop you . I mean that in a constuctive manner .
But like all mods/games/products, it's what you expect from them ,that can often be the main barrier.
If people want a realistic version then forget it,
that is impossible . If you just want a yanky rebel
ding dong, with not too much atention to detail,
then this paltform would do for me .
To make a basic set of units with basic animations,
with stats that would enable them to play custom battles,
would be easy enough . We have done that already .
So we have not only tought about it ,
we actually did something about it .
Not much I admit, but enough to get the idea
that it is possible . Which is still better that just thinking about it http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
One way or another we still have our first project to finish, before we engage another head on .
As for the mtw/acw online people that are having a good time , well they don't advertise much , do they ?
I never heard of them neither .

Ok I'll do a bit of research and see if I can find the site for youz. But the thread that took me to the site was on this forum. I Would have downloaded, but didn't think an ACW mod could work realistically on the MTW engine.

These people are producing their own game .
It is not a mod for MTW .
This is what I and ,I think others tought you
were saying .
I agree it looks very nice and may turn out to be
a good game , but it's not what the others were getting at.
We are interested in progressing MTW to adapt to other
forms .
Anyway thanks for posting the link so we could clear that one .
I can get some sleep now and stop looking for the acw mod

In my 1st post I stated it was "a home spun, MTW style "American Civ War campaign". I suppose thats "slightly" ambiguous. Sorry for the confusion this caused, LK.
I did realise you were talking about ACW Mod's. I thought downloading the MadMinuteGame ACW game could be an intresting bit of research. Might even be some stuff to plunder. Good luck with the "Yankee doodle, ding dong"

You did state MTW style , but nobody reads the small print.
So the bit in brackets just reads ACW to me . http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-jester.gif
The info won't go a miss anyway http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

Making mistakes is allowed , don't worry about it .
Doing it on a regular basis would
take the shine off it though

Quote[/b] ]14. How can I buy Take Command and how much will it cost?
Our current plans have Take Command only available over the internet. Whether through our site or more likely some other site, you will probably not find it in stores unless things change drastically between now and the release. As far as price goes... I have no clue. But when the time comes we will probably take a look at how much new games are going for and price it around there.
This garage game might never come out...
