It is all consuming, it is composed of many noble houses ... even those of different countries

pretty good, now prepare to brace yourself for the rebellions to come as you pass 60% domination http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif

only 6 factions?

that's not at all a surprise as HRE.

7or 8 factions should be the norm until you wipe em out.

and say good bye to alliances, marrying foreign princesses, and outrageous oceanic trade profits

agree with first two parts.

still able to generate huge trade though.

just not that many to trade with.

I managed to restrict the Italians, Sicilians, and Byz all to islands in one HRE game and had stable trade with the Almos, Spanish, and Turks as well.

For total war I prefer Viking raiding in the expansion...

The rest of that stack has longbowmen and gallowglass' in it, so maybe it was a rebel stack bribed by the HRE. Does anyone know if heirs carry their crown marker over if they get bribed (after going rebel that is; I know heirs cannot be bribed directly).

Or, can you bribe ex-heirs no longer in line for the throne?

Yes, you can as demonstrated by the picture. I bribed a Prince of England after he rebelled against the King. Prince Edward Plantagent.

Now, what would be really sweet is if after I married him to a princess of mine, he appeared on my heir list as a possible ruler to my empire.

I don't think so, not even in case of civil war.

I just bribed an Almo prince today in a Byz campaign.

civil war.

it's funny that he still is named Prince Yusuf though even if now not royalty in my armies.

Well look at that. How handy is it getting Royal Princes from other factions by bribery and then handing out titles to them? Quite handy, isn't it? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I remember one of the patrons (it was serpent iirc) posted a message claiming that his king joined a foreign crusade. Wouldn't want to see this in one of my games.

I have seen a Plantagenet joining in one of my Spanish crusades once (but they were of course no longer in line for the throne).

well, I've put my own king into my crusade just to immortalize him before.

interesting to stick him into a foreign crusade though.

hmmm.

foreign princes in civil wars are often good bribes as they tend to be commanding fairly good troops of that faction and their stats are often quite awesome making good govs.
