So far the Pharoah's bowmen are in the lead with 18 votes. The Dacian Falxmen have 13, the Scythian Axemen have 15, the Iberian Infantry have 12, and the Mirmillo Gladiators have 3.

I don't know about you but I'd rather see a historically accurate unit. I can wait until the game's release to see units like the Pharoah's bowmen...likely just another Pharonic unit that is 1000 years off the mark and looks like a cast member from The Mummy Returns.

That is true as most of the Egyptians were blind to the truth. When Egypt was conquered the high priets told them they had to be a pharoah and act as a god or population would not follow them.


Me thinks they were doing a modern technique called justifying there job.

The Shogun made a thread explaining why that is.
I can't get on the .com fora, so you'll have to search for it yourself, but I'll mention it here anyways.
The Shogun said something about CA being to busy and thus could not get the 3D unit ready. So it will be put up probably on Monday.
Instead of a 3D unit now, they have put up an old, out of the dusty archives, developers diary on the .com site.

Ya, they're not going to throw away perfectly fine units because... They didn't get enough voted oO. I myself voted for the Bowmen, its all been melee profiles for a while, I wanna see the bowmen (Plus there hasn't been much info on the egyptians.)

'Throwing axemen' were only used by the Franks under Clovis and his successors, and maybe under the Carolingians as well.

They weren't throwing axemen like in AoM though, they were just a frontline of troops armed with a throwing axe, a fransiska, which they threw just before joining the melee. In AoM that's just bullshit, little men throwing axes without running out of ammo...
