Hi, I was wondering if any of you veterans out there would have an explanation for this, while playing the Hungarians in early I got the trader virtue....without building a single trade post This happened twice, in two separate games, but only ever with the Hungarians starting king and only about 3 years before he died. I was thinking that maybe this is because all the Hungarian starting provinces have very few trade goods, and IIRC you get some income from the AI selling goods at your coastal provinces (only a touch more than usual). I built all the ports I could (Croatia, Serbia, Moldavia) so I was thinking that it could be income relative to trade goods owned that makes you gain the virtue (I had the Italians, Sicilians and Byzies all trading with me). I would like to replicate this feat in most of my games, so any ideas?

a bug would be my guess, but others may be able to give you a better explanation

In various grooming virtues threads, it's been posted that building lots of mines triggers the Trader virtue.

oic, yeah that would explain it, no where has as many mines as the hungarians inital starting area, thanks

yep, I think 4-6 mines within a span of two to three years will get you trader V&V easily.

some have considered repeatedly building and razing mines for a not so rich province.
