I was wandering what you guys' best tactics are for taking out a bigger army than your's. If I have 60 samuari archers and I am facing 120 yari ashigru, I like to stick to the mountains and then carefully sneek behind. Then I find a nice little possie to pick off them one by one.
Please feel free to reply!

I would just charge them with 120 Sohei, flank them with two sword saints (kensai) at each side, and finally attack from behind with 12 battlefield ninjas !!!

60 SA can win 120 ashis easily in the same honor. Just put em in a high place and rain death to the ashis. Taking losses will reduce their morale and when u attack em downhill with a more superior unit like SA they shall flee!!!
The other ashi unit will run , too. I am assuming this is single players with low honor ashis and not the h7+ ashis in multi :/

GAH! Put arrow-hurlers in wedgie formation and charge downhill onto the wide-eyed peasants! They will turn and run for their mamas so fast you'll they'd outrun even a Mexican sprinter that just ate a bean burrito and warm full-fat milk 'feast'...!

Or you can hide your archers in the forest (if there are any) and let surprise fire do the talking (unless that archer is taisho). Also, from my experience retreating archers have a bonus vs YA in forests. Plus, flanking will be allmost immpossible with all those trees.

When you are outnumbered, you must strive to create a local superiority.

There are many ways to do this, depending on the situation, but the general principle is to make your opponent's larger force irrelevant by seizing the initiative and making him fight where you are strong and he is weak.
