View Full Version : Overwriting MTW with modded version
http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Hi there,
A little question if anyone can help. I've been adding a few new factions, and ran into the old fac shield problem. So dutifully created several custom files. All work fine.
However, I was wondering, if by overwriting the original Early, High, Late, and/or removing/renaming the offending units, i.e ChivalricMAA, Chivalric Feudal Sergeants, etc etc etc, it was possible to do away with custom files or more precisely free them up for new bodies. Failing that, is it possible remove named units from the Facshield files.
Cheers for any help,

Ah, you mean delete all those facshield unit folders to deal with the problem?
Exactly what I was thinking a while back, but haven't gotten around trying it out yet.
It would be so much better if that can be used as the solution No more in need of using custom bif folders for this
If I get around doing it in the nearby future and it works, I'll be sure to inform here http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Hi there [DnC],
Yes I meant that. But I also meant, if removing or renaming the units that use the facshields (i.e ChivalricManAtArms is deleted or becomes ChivalricManAtArms2 etc), another solution could be found.

Yes I suppose that would work I didn't quite understand it at first.
In theory it's should do the trick.
Although I myself would prefer deleting the facshield unit folders. Seems to be less work http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif
Oh yes,
I'm all for less work. Just wondering which option would work and trying to save myself all the trial and error.

Well I didn't help all that much actually, it's still only theoritical and not a proven fact to work http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
But for what it's worth, I'm glad I could have helped http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Hey Nomad,
Just to let you know I just tried the "deleting of facshield unit folders" solution and it works http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cheers.gif
Now you don't have to use the custom bif folders anymore luckily http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif
