View Full Version : Modelled income for all provinces

I've made a 'generalized' listing of income per province, using a model where each port province is able to sell to 20 other ports. This is to estimate which provinces are the best for overall income (farms, trade, and mines). If you're interested, please take a look and provide any comments on whether you think it's useful and/or how I might improve it. Details on the calculations are in the file. It's in MS Word format, which was the easiest for formatting, and is still sort-able (since it's in a table)... but does that work for most folks?

It's on my website for right now, but if folks seem to like it, I'll post it to the upload area.

EDIT - A new version, and this thread, is being continued in Yakobu and Tricky Lady's Regional Income thread here (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=15;t=18344); please post any comments/qs there from now on. Thanks

Ok... I'll take that as a vote against Word. I'll definitely ultimately get a non-Word version up once I know what info folks want to see, but first let me float this version since it's easy for me to format... it involves dumping data out of Access into some other format, then making it look nice, each time... so if it's about to change a bunch, it wouldn't want to spend the time making each cut look nice... but if tons of folks can't even read this, I'll post something else already. There's supposed to be a free Word viewer on the Microsoft site (if anybody wanted to bother), but I just did a quick look and couldn't find one for Word 2000.

@genocidal:

There is a free word reader available on the internet. There is a link to it from Forgbeasteggs guide to total war. I would link, but I don't know how http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-blush.gif

Thanks Lostarm, good thinking I forgot about that - I see where she has a link to an Excel viewer, but not Word. She also has a link to www.OpenOffice.org which is free but isn't a viewer per se - it's an open-source application suite which, among other things, can read and write MS Office files (including Word). But I don't know if I'd want to install a whole suite just to read one .doc. Then again, maybe somebody would like something that reads and writes all that, for free.

Lostarm, it's pretty easy to make a hotlink here... just hit the http:// button (right above the editing window, when you're making a message), paste in the URL, then on the next popup, enter the cover text. (Like the here in my first message.) Or, just cut and paste the whole URL into the message, although they can be messy and are not hotlinked, shrug.
