Dear all,

I could not find the answers anywhere on how to select the gaming language. I hope you could provide help on this..

After upgrading the Shogun Warlord edition to V 1.02. I could not find the option to select language in game. Readme files also does not include instructions. I only see the language files located under /loc but that's all.

I even tried modified the desired language to be eng thinking that the default would read text out of eng, but the result is the game won't start at all with that change.

I hope experienced users could help me with this.. Thank you very much

Cal

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif Greetings calpeace and welcome to the Forums of a Thousand Languages.

It has been a while, but I think the language for STW/WE is determined during the install. What language is your game in and what language do you want it to be in?

I downloaded ShogunWv1.02_Asia.exe and installed it by selecting installation with Chinese(Taiwan). The installation is indeed in Chinese, however, once entering the game, it becomes English again.

I noticed that before upgrading, TraditionalChinese already exits under loc folder. With the upgrade, ChT folder is added.

However, only 1 file ReadMe(Patch v1-02).txt is found inside ChT folder.. while under TraditionalChinese, a lot of files exist...

Shogun is indeed quite old. I am comming back to play this old game because of its release in Chinese. I'm familiar with the warlords' and generals' names in Kanji so it adds a lot more fun

Thank you for your help in advance

i know that putting -lang 0 in the command line for the game will force English language,
perhaps try -lang 1 and -lang 2,

if none work then remove the switch from the command line,

then make a back up of the ENG loc folder, rename it to backup,

ALSO make backups of TraditionalChinese and ChT folders
then try merging the two folders,

then rename the merged folder to eng.

if neccessary reinsert the -lang 0 switch to force the game to use the english folder - which is no longer english

hope something works- BY THE WAY, should one of these methods work PLEASE ket us know so we can refer back to this thread for future solutions,

cheers,

The modifying of lang works

I modified lang.cfg. Inside lang.cfg file, it lists

0
no_throne

It works when I change it to

11
no_throne

I do not know if the Unicode version (ChT) that come with the expansion would actually work. Because as posted earlier, there is only 1 file under that folder. I am guessing the language 11 I am using is from TraditionalChinese folder.

Thanks for the suggestion
