View Full Version : Increasing loyalty
Playing as the Russians, I am finding that every new unit I train, has a loyalty level of either 1 or 2. My current king has an influence level of 4. Is there anything I can do to ensure that the men I train will have higher loyalty when created. I have given titles to certain men to make them more loyal, but those are obviously in limited supply. Any thoughts?
Well increasing the King's influence would do it. I don't know of any other way to though.
try also using spies.
try one guy, succeed, and all other suckers become more loyal.
perhaps out of fear or whatever but it works http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Marry a disloyal general to one of your princesses, if you have any.

building churches and other religous buildings also helps
religious buildings help loyalty?
never heard that one before. You sure, garion?
I like healthy level of dread by execution using spies.
too bad the game doesn't recognize my execution of disloyal general using an organ gun is intentional and not friendly fire in a battle
I wish the dread level of kign and loyalty level of generals would go up because of that too.

Just make sure you have influence like 6-7 at least. All units that will be created after that will have great loyalty; also, build some more, it'll give you great builder that increases loyalty by one.

to expand on what Nowake suggests, i will sometimes take a slightly cheesy tactic to get great builder (+10 happy, +1 general's loyalty) and magnificent builder (+10/+2). Since the game seems to only care about the raw number of buildings built, I'll go thru my provs and for any that aren't building anything i'll plop any of the quickest/cheapest buildings into the queue. Level one horse breeder, spearmaker, siege engineer, or bowyer only cost 200 florins and take just 2 years. Thus, you can rapidly attain the builder virtues at minimal cost/time.
deleting watch towers and border forts and building them repeatedly also gets that virtue in no time.

true, cheaper and quicker, but you take a loyalty hit and drop your defense against foreign covert agents. you'd have to make sure that prov loyalty isn't an issue and willing to accept the risk of agents coming in, possibly stirring things up. granted, the AI doesn't often do that, but some games i'll catch a string of foreign spies/assasins trying to cross my borders over 5-10 years.
I agree that great builder is the best way to get loyal generals. I usually suspend troop-building for a couple of years (if possible) until it's attained. At the least stop building general-candidate troops (knights etc.) disloyal archers and spearmen aren't much of a problem.
I personally only do this in provinces I held for a long and use it as a way to train spies.
park a bunch of spies in the province for loyalty and without border forts, the spies get the valo from catching assasins, etc.
be sure to do this is a port province or something with high agent traffic for maximum effect.
soon, the covert ops wings of my rival factions are decimated. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-yes.gif
