View Full Version : Bug in Building influences?

Hello,

If you want to see the bug then open your building production file with Gnome, and then for any building you like (I've tested on farmland and chapter houses) stick in {CASTLE7(150)} into the "building influences for building combos" column.

Save and try to load and...

It works http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Open the build file again and put CASTLE10 instead of CASTLE7, save and try again...

And it won't work http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

For those who can't be bothered doing the above test, the error message I get is
"Unknown building declared as building influence: column 11, row 31" Which in this case is the correct column and row for the Chapter house

Has anyone noticed this before?

I have also checked with CASTLE13 and you get the same error message. My guess is that it doesn't like double-figured buildings and the only buildings that fall into that category are castles 10-15.

Does anyone have any smart ideas for a way to circumvent this bug?

Not tested this but could you perhaps try to change the techlevel integer to 5 instead of 2?

Hi

Cheers for the suggestion, I tried it but it has no apparent effect; the same errors come up as before. I had already tried it at all 4 levels of farmland so all 5 tech levels have now been checked.

I tried checking if maybe (just maybe) this one part of all of the game files used a hexadecimal system (just in case; you never know until you try).
It didn't work either (no big surprise there) and I got the same error message with CASTLEa and CASTLEA as with CASTLE10 or above.

Has anyone got any more ideas to get around this bug? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif
