Greetings fellow TW gamers,
For 4 weeks and numerous months of conversation RTK are happy to present "The Warrior Isles" online campaign. The focus of the campaign is to bring the Total War community into an online format. You may play 1 week and sit idle for the next 3 weeks. You may have personal issues with one clan and decide next week to wipe them out of the campaign. Any number of clans and players may join as rules are in place to allow all sizes of clans to compete. Success in the Isles is dependant on more than just battle field expertise. Back room negotiations, payoffs and good diplomatic ties will ensure you hold the status of "Isles Lords" and are known throughout the land as the dominant clan.
Currently the "Warrior Isles" is being played in a friendly format to ensure that when it starts in 4 weeks all players are familiar with play. Currently RTK have split into 2 teams Camelot and Mordred. You are welcome to join them or start your own team. Importantly this campaign allows for all players and so has included an important role for those players that do not belong to a clan. "Ronins" may regester as mercenaries that are available for hire to soften up clans before invasion or simply help out. Their goal is florins and the building of a mighty warband.

Tales from the Isles....................
We huddled around the fire seeking warmth from the howling winds and light rain that sizzled with each drop in the fire. Looking through the gloom at the illuminated faces it seemed some two hundred of us had survived today’s battle. What seemed certain victory had been a crushing defeat. The Round Table Knights had hired us to soften an enemy border Warband and their intelligence had been far from accurate, so I assume. Our Mercenary Warband although small had gained considerable fame over the years and always negotiated a good contract fee ensuring the band consisted of well trained warriors from throughout the Isles. Today we had lost two thirds of our Warband and a quarter of those that successfully routed the field had not returned. We assumed they would not as they were cheap archer units from the local villages.
I watched our fearless Warlord survey the scene, he seemed undaunted and more interested in merging units that now required replacements to be effective in battle. To him this was just another day’s work as he now considered what type of troops to recruit from the local villages and taverns. There was always an unlimited supply of warriors seeking fame and fortune in the isles.
I looked at the arrow shaft that protruded from my leg and knew that soon it must come out to stop infection. Although well respected in the Warband I knew I would be left to fight my own way back to the hideout if too slow. We always move swiftly by the darkness of night after a defeat as Clan Warriors will be scouring the land to kill those of us that refuse to join their ranks.
With that thought a hand reached down grabbed the shaft and with a slight twist and pull had yanked it from my leg. Our Warlord looked down at me looked at the shaft and threw it to the ground, he passed me a piece of firewood glowing with heat and sat by me, “Well young fella, looks like you are the most senior now.” He looked at my wound, “Better get that sealed, we move soon and you must now lead a Szekely units to scout the way home”. I was truly honored, only our best warriors took cavalry into battle and often were the only survivors.
“How did this all begin, I was born in Logurs the son of carpenter. All I know is the life of the Isles yet I don’t know why we always fight, why ships with warriors arrive in our ports constantly and why clans kill each other on the battlefield and then negotiate trade terms as if they were business acquaintances.” I looked up at my Warlord waiting for an answer, his beard was thick and grey hair long and gathered at the back. He looked at me and grinned, “I asked the same question of my Warlord many years ago. He wasn’t born of the isles you know he came here as one of the first Clan Warlords from the mainland. Once his Clan’s home isle had been taken they disbanded and he roamed the land for many years before finally starting our Warband.” He bent over grabbed the piece of firewood and thrust it too my leg, the heat made my whole leg burn, but as it was drawn away a numbing warmth took over where the stinging sensation of an open wound had been. “Now that’s done I will quickly tell you the history of the Warrior Isles…………….”
“ Clans originally were mainland nations armies. These armies arrived here soon after Thrass was discovered on Avalon Isle. Thrass is of great value in the world, we take it for granted as we have an abundance of it, but it is found nowhere else. These nations armies all fought for dominance and ownership of the Isles and the precious supplies of Thrass. Conflict in the isles caused conflict throughout the world and soon the whole world was at war. After many years of fighting Nations negotiated that a solution must be found. It was decided that each nation would only send their best generals to the Isles and establish a base camp on one of the small islands within the Warrior Isles archipelago. The Nation that won ownership of the region of Avalon in the centre of Avalon Isle where the largest deposits of Thrass lay would be given the title of Isles Lords. The Isle Lords would have the only trading contract with the rest of the world. Any independent traders or Clans in the Isles would sell their Thrass to the Isles Lords at a fixed price. All Nations agreed to this as it would mean that war for Thrass would be isolated to the Warrior Isles only. Although the Warlords arrived on their own they were skilled diplomats with an abundance of florins. Soon they built considerable Warbands paying a good price for units that had traveled to the Isles looking for fame and glory. Local villagers were forced into service when seasoned warriors and florins were in short supply. The Warrior Isles became a world of its own, teaming with people from all over the world its cultures flourished, and with the Thrass florins were in abundance. Villages spread through the isles, and all form of tradesman came to make their fortune. The Clans no longer represented their national origins and often considered themselves independent with enough florins to no longer require assistance from the mainland. Now we have a land that is a melting pot of warriors, businessmen, tradesmen and villagers all out to make their fortune. There are no loyalties clans have disowned their mainland origins and only give loyalty to the clan and their fellow clans Warlords, Warriors only give loyalty to the florins and locals forced into service do all they can to return to their families and homes. This is a bloodthirsty land, but I would not live anywhere else, this is life at its best, the best wine, food, women, fellow warriors and best of all a good fight anytime you want it with a load of florins as payment.……………………….”
The sound of horses………………….. “Quick young man, the Clan are on us we must get to the hideout or live the lives as cannon fodder for those scum” We mounted our horses and rode into the darkness knowing that all those on foot would be left behind and most likely taken into Clan service.

Some people have expressed their concern over the timing of the campaign considering Rome will be out soon.
This campaign is a lot more than a gaming platform it is a representation of the community. Currently we will use the Viking Total War platform for battles. However once Rome is available we will give it a few weeks and then convert to the Rome platform with no changes to campaign progress. Of course a fair conversion for units etc will have to be decided on but the progress will not be effected.
Who know in 2 years time we will move to another platfrom and maintain progress.
