And I'm not even going to utter about the nutty p. although most people do have some taste in films. All sergio leone films are gods gift as are all the Tarantino films.
If you object to what I say please tell me. And ceaser please don't hate me for mocking some of choices of films you're welcome to your views.

I didn't think terminator 3 was that bad. Ok it isn't as good as 1 or 2 but i wasn't expecting it to be and there is some really stupid moments that shouldn't of been included ie. the glasses he has when he leaves the bar.
Action/Adventure: Blade
Comedy: Pulp Fiction (Cuts me up)
Historical: Gladiator
Sci Fi/Fantasy: Aliens
Drama/Misc: LOTR cause it falls into so many categories.

Oh boy...Aymar thanks for echoing my thoughts.
I wouldn't want to list mine...would take to long.
But I just finished watching Braveheart and I amazed how much they stole from the Plot of the book Pride of Lions. They really need to do a movie on Brian Boru. Most of Braveheart comes from his story.
Fav comedy has to be Fletch. Awesome.
Sci fi the LOTR. Been waiting for those since I was 8 years old.
troy, alexander the great, king arthur, hannibal. these ancient history made into films, instant classics for the future?

Best movie of all time, of any genre, is Seven Samurai, hands down. Nothing even comes close, though Ran or Kagemusha (also both by Kurosawa) are about the only contenders. That it's gotten only 2 mentions thus far is truly disturbing ;) If you haven't seen it, do yourself a favour and buy (not rent) the Criterion DVD. There's a reason why the best film makers across the globe all consider Kurosawa to be the master of the art, and you deserve to find out why. It's so good, that it transcends being quantified in a genre, to the point of simply being the best film ever made.
As for the rest...
Action/Adventure
Close tie between Kill Bill (vol.1 & 2) and Indiana Jones Trilogy
Comedy
Monty Python's Holy Grail
Historical (is this really a genre?)
Conspiracy (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0266425/)
Sci Fi
Aliens
Fantasy
Conan the Barbarian (yes, Conan)
Drama
Schindler's List
Horror
The Thing
Western
Tie between The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly, and Unforgiven
Anime
Tie between NausicaƤ and Grave of The Fireflies (which brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it)
Musical
Fantasia
Lot's of ties in there :D
