Tired of scrolling down Org home page?

Hi All,

I got tired of scrolling and searching for what i want/need, So I have been building a Java based QuickLink Menu - unfortunately i am not a java genius, so it's slow going,

at the moment what i have i am fairly comfortable with,
but i would like some comments/opinions on the way i have set it up.

Go to the Org Home page (http://www.totalwar.org)

Look for the featured site on the right hand side,
scroll down,
just under that article is the bold title QuickLink Menu.
now it can a few seconds to load, and you will need java installed - so be patient. If you have java and it does not load hit refresh.

Only the first 2 of the 6 major categories work for now,
Napoleonic and Medieval
- i need opinions before i finish the rest.

Now,
i think i can change the background of the cells - i think they fade too easily into the page - perhaps make the cell background a little darker?

I haven't visited the Org front page in ages. I jump to the Guild right away.

One of the reasons is that the front page fails regularly to load since there are those adds installed. I believe that quite some members have complained about it as well. the reason this is in the EH is simple,
i want input from those who are relatively new to the Org,
and the old hands who are always helpfull

made the submenu's a little darker - opinions?

I like where you're going with this. It'd certainly make the site easier to navigate.

The problem I have with the quickLinks are:

It starts off white for and take a few seconds to go to the right colour. Then again when you scroll over it, it turns white and the colours need to be reloaded. Is there some way to load them when the page loads? That'd make it seem flowing.

Brilliant idea.

So easy to navigate and all the information you need in such a small area.

Have just had a quick look but will spend more time later.

Project on hold.
(noted dark colour comment, they were too light the first time - have to find a happy medium)
(and slow loading - dial-up? - the background file is like 645 bytes...)
(have not tried getting a java menu to preload images before - will have to research that)

we cannot get opera browsers to behave with it at this time,
plus i have discovered that the entire website seems to have dfferent templates on each page,
(this site has had a number of different authors over the last 4 years after all)
as such i will be reformatting all the webpages and then coming back to the menu...

unless someone can tell me how to get Opera to behave with java?

There was an add that popped up on the Org main page that put porn in my favorites folder. I have since managed to block it, but it only occurred at the Org; nowhere else.
