Which is your favourite deployment zone/colour?

Which is your favourite deployment zone and colour? Do you pick colour to pick deployment zone? I usualy pick green or light blue, which usualy gives me center or rear back positions. I pick because of the colours but the zones are OK as well. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

I like to be Mori (red). That works out nicely because it gives me center when playing with my clan mates who prefer the wing positions, but it doesn't take center away from someone who really wants it when playing with non-clan allies.

For those who are confused...deployment zones are assigned according to the colour/clan you choose. There are 8 and in a 4v4 (biggest game possible) there are 8 deployment zones, of course. This is the order of colours:

White (Ronin)
Green (Shimazu)
Red (Mori)
Yellow (Oda)
Light Blue (Imagawa)
Black (Takeda)
Purple (Hojo)
Blue (Uesugi)


Who in that order is first is centre. The second in that order is left and the third is right. The fourth is just in front of the second.

Hence, if we are in a 3v3 and the defenders have White, Yellow and Purple - this would be their deployment zone:

Yellow - - - - - White - - - - - Purple

Personally I decide what colour to choose depending on the map, my allies and my enemies. But I always get White if I want to be centre (ALWAYS centre) or Blue (ALWAYS side) if I want to be on the flank.

I dont like to deploy to the flank theres not enough room there so i always either pick white or make sure that my colour is lower than my allies.:)

I am almost always Green, just because I am used to it. Originally, I chose Green as my color so that it would be a little (very litte) easier to hide units in the trees without them being seen (even when they are not concealed). This has worked occasionally (but rarely), especially from a distance, or during a heated battle.

Black also works for camoflauge.

Green position gives me center almost every time, so that is the position I am used to playing. I've grown to prefer the center because 1) I can see what is happening on both flanks, 2) I can help on both flanks, 3) If one flank is going to crumble, I can relocate to the other flank with most of my troops and continue the fight.

Being stuck on a flank is riskiest because if your allies get routed there is noplace for you to go.

Here are the deployment zones as you can see them on the mini map:

A3 A1 A2
B4 .. A4
B2 B1 B3

The two teams are A and B, look up Tera's post for the rank order of colours. The highest ranking colour gets the highest ranking position. So if team A has green, yellow, black and dark blue, then they have:

A1 - green
A2 - yellow
A3 - black
A4 - dark blue

Conversely, team B then has red, white, purple and light blue, so they got:

B1 - white
B2 - red
B3 - light blue
B4 - purple

Since white is the highest ranking colour you always get #1 position with white. On the other hand dark blue is the lowest ranking, so you always get #4 position with dark blue.
