You can get Gnome from the orgs tools:

With Gnome, open CRUSADER_BUILD_PROD13.txt located C:\Program Files\Total War\Medieval - Total War. Scroll down to row 170 (Sherwood Foresters). Column 20 controls what eras they're around. You can't have early and high for Merica and all periods for other provinces. It's one for all. If you want them to only be available in early and high, change the code from ALL_PERIODS to "EARLY, HIGH".

Column 3 is the cost to build the unit. At the moment it's 550. Make it whatever you like.

Put this into column 17:
"{ BOWYER3, SWORDSMITH2 }"

I think that's Bowyers Guild and Swordsmiths Workshop. I you want just one i'd be like this:
{ BOWYER3 }
no " or ,

Good luck http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Edit: Also, I think you have to say which factions can build them. If you only want the English building them then go to column 50 and put in:
FN_ENGLISH
or
ALL_FACTIONS
depending on how who want to have them.

It will indeed affect multiplayer. The Foresters will be available for that price in that period for that faction.

You can quite easily make these changes from wordpad too. I tried doing it once, and had no problems.

I must say I got no joy from the foresters. They're still too few to make a difference (like the hashishin). Still - a fun unit.

A mod I made permanent is to include foot-knights (feudal, chivalric and gothic) on the build-roster. A simple copy from the requirements of the "horse-knights" and replacing horse-breeder with swordsmith works nicely. And this change does make a difference, especially if France starts pumping out high-valor foot-knight from Ile-de-France.

Just mod them to be a larger unit http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

They are excellent in melee too.

You could make them the English King and Price bodyguard unit. To do it remove FN_ENGLISH from column 49 for the Early, high and late royal knight entries and add it for the sherward forrester entry.
