View Full Version : Dumb question: upgrading buildings

Folks,

I see several references to "upgrading buildings" here, esp. things like taverns, brothels etc. for extra happiness bonuses. Forgive the stupid question, but what does "upgrading buildings" mean? Town watch to town guard to town militia I understand since they're on the build chart, but how do I get an "upgraded tavern"? Or is an upgraded tavern a brothel?

Sorry, I'm getting confused here. I'm worried I'm missing a useful trick.

Cheers,
Ulair

Hi Ulair http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

At work at moment so not sure of names but you can upgrade taverns and brothels in MTW:VI that can produce assassins and spies up to valour 3. Although I think the building names change at each level the picture is roughly the same and you can right click on it to check what it produces. To get each upgrade you will to keep upgrading your fort to keep etc.

Ah, thanks, YAKOBU. Is this a VI feature, perhaps? I'm still vanilla 1.1 - I hear various stories here about reduced stability of VI over MTW (CTDs etc) and since my MTW 1.1 runs just fine (never crashed yet) I'm loathe to upgrade, even though the features sound good.

it's not worth it to build the upgraded buildings just for the happiness

they give valor bonuses to agents

with +3 to assasins and +2 to spies at fortress level.

VI is quite stable and the new units are more than worth it.

interfaces are also improved.
