Righto - i'm stumped,

I have 4 themed sections for the new menu format,
(an expanding menu, save you scrollling down down down dwon the page)

I NEEED Ideas for General links cells background and for Game Mods backgrounds

I Have NOT Preloaded the backgrounds to these cells,
they will take a minute to load up, so be patient,
move your mouse over the menu categories to start the cells loading.

Ignore all other formatting errors,
we are testing the menu here.
Look Below featured site,
you will see a Samurai and a Legionary facing each other,
the categories should appear a few seconds after.

hey that's very cool, Barocca. I like Napoleon's N.

just to throw out some lame ideas... these'll prompt you to think of better ones instantly, lol...

the Mods section could have a toolbox theme. either look like a tool tray, or, have wrenches and screwdrivers around the side.

alternately it could have a 'coding' scheme, like a dev app window's borders... BUT, I can't think how to get that idea, in 9 pixels' width or less. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

the General section could have perhaps a cartographic map theme. or some other generalized martial theme.... binoculars, swords, whatever around the edges?

The Roman columns are a nice touch, but I would have the columns be wider, intruding into the central space more; seem more massive, as befits an empire. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-toff.gif

I can't see anything but the 4 little screens at the top and a loooong menubar at the left. I had some errors on the page, don't know which.

It seems that this version isn't compatible with some security settings.

In that long menubar, a little way down - just above Napoleonic Total War - is the little interactive menu he's talking about. Is it not loading for you? I got it just fine.

it is entirely possible you dont hve java actually installed,
Microsoft Removed it from SP1 and renamed SP1 to SP1a,

as such you may need to download Java here
(it's a browser plug in)

Ok, have added backgrounds for the Game Mods and General section,

for the moment i have used the medieval theme for the general section, although the martial idea sounds good,
i ran out of time today trying for a specific parchment look - which just was not going to work.

For the game mods i used the metallic backround from the TotalWar Logo displayed when you load the game.

If you can view totalwar.com, then you should be able to see the menu i have created, beleive it or not they both use the same base scripting, just the one i use is far more advanced, and has been tested across multiple browser platforms.
