Hi guys

Erado sent me a few questions which also match with with whats been going around at the forums so here goes.

Q. Can we ask questions about the expansion pack and its features, something like QT1 where each person could ask 3 questions and have them answered by some of your staff.
A. Certainly! put a list together like before and I'll see what we can do!

Q. Consult a wish list and vote on the items
A. The Add-on pack is feature complete, but as close to meeting as many of your wishes as possible based on the feed back from the forums etc.

Q. One question that is debated the most at the moment is whether this will be an expansion, i.e. a set of add-ons to the original game, or a Shogun:Gold edition, where it is a re-release of the full game with add-ons.

A. Add on pack for Europe. Full version of the game with the extra features of the add-on pack for north America (i.e. a gold edition, you can buy just the add-on pack from on-line from EA.com).

Q. At one stage some time ago you announced that parts of the next release would be available for download, for people who already have the original game.
A. These have been incorporated into patch 1.13

Q.Will there be a version mismatch between players with the Original Game and players with the expansion pack?.
A. No the add-on pack release will coincide with an update of patch 1.13 which will enable all versions to play together on-line.

Q.Will the new units be available for online play as well?
A. Yes, but if you don't have the add-on the units will not be available to you. However if you are playing against some one who has the add-on pack you will be able to see and fight thier new unit types.

Q.Will armour and weapons upgrades become available in online play?
A. yes the same rules apply as above!

More details and images to follow in the new year, till then have a very merry Xmas

I have created a thread "wish list" in the section about the expansion pack. Hope that some of you will participate.

I think you misunderstood the part about wish list. In teh original questions I mailed The Shogun I mentioned two ways of creating further 2 way feedback between us and the developers. The 'wish list'optioon was one of them. Since The expansion is feature complete, that means a wish list from our side won't be very useful.

You can bet your bottom dollar that pretty much most of what we mentioned in Question Time 2 has been looked at very closely.

One more thing, The Shogun confirmed that a once again we can ask questions to them, much like in Question Time 1.

So I can now say that I will launch Question Time 3 as soon as possible. More details to follow later today.

I'm not one to be skeptical of game developers who have performed well in the past, but it just seems to me that it's not really fair to expect players who haven't bought the add-on for whatever reason to have to fight and counter units from the add-on during multiplayer games. How are they supposed to develop a feel for the counters to the units if they can't practice against them in some kind of single player format? Will there at least be an option for those who don't own the add-on to disallow the use of the add-on units in their multiplayer games? To keep things a bit more fair?

Hi BakaGaijin,

Not fair perhaps, but the good news is at least they're compatible, so everybody can keep playing everybody whether they're buying the expansion or not. That was the main reason I asked this question for.

And if you don't want to buy the expansion and don't want to fight the new units, you either ask the opponent not to use them or play against people who don't want to buy the expansion.

But, as things are getting clearer and clearer, the expansion is looking better and better all the time.

But this does confirm that we will be seeing 13th Century units fighting against 16th/17th Century units.

Will I be able to use muskets to counter Magy's mongols? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Ah, but its not an advance really is it? Its retrograde, a step back in time. How will the rightly famous mongol cavalry perform against firearms? Only one online player (and we all know who) has really mastered cavalry armies. Maybe with the expansion we will see more (and more effective) cavalry online.

I am glad that those who don't buy the pack are at least included. I'm just worried about the righteous whupping I'd take if I ventured online between the patch release and the time I manage to get my hands on the Expansion. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

And I agree with all of you -- this certainly seems to be shaping up into a great expansion!
