There is a similar poll at legiontotalwar.com, initiated by Trax.
I would like to see what people here in the .org think about it (although i probably know about most of them already http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif ) in a more statistical approach.
EDIT: I, on my part, voted for an accurate Ptolemaic empire.

Well I guess my post (the Ptolomaic army) makes my point quite clear: It's absolutely not necessary to ditch all the Egyptian units in the thrashbin. I've voted accurate Ptolomaic empire, as it is really much different than the other two successors.
Well, yes, but it's irelevant. I suppose all of the forumers around here want an accurate Ptolemaic army, who would want otherwise? The problem is the potential market CA wants to impress

Please if CA has any sense of dignity remove the domes, for the sake of all humanity,i'm not hear to look at a pseudo-islamic factions that existed before Islam
However i know Greeks/Romans had domes,it may be inspired by it,Also the arabs never really had domes, until they made contact with the byzantine empire,Al Azhar and the Dome of the Rock where made by byzantine engineers,Jawhar of Sicily(converted to Islam, and later built Al Azhar, went to Mecca and remained for the rest of his life, from then on Mosques have imitiated his design)and another architect i can't recall his name(an Abbasid caliph ordered to execute him so he would'nt build another one).Anyways I can feel a bit forgiving, but still the units are not accurate, and pretty annoying to look at.
Lets not put it quite this way. CA probably neglect some aspects that when compared with the rest of the work, really seem neglectable.
What we must do is be polite and give sugestions. They aren't sticking this game on our throats.

Ptolemaic empire but with some anachronistic units. Good to have some unique units.
If i had my choice, it'd be for an Accurate Ptolemaic empire, but i wouldn't mind a few anachronistic units.
I wouldn't mind some anachronistic units as long as the elite units are all Greek. I'm thinking of having the anachronistic units as fodder and early game units.

Well we all know this will never happen, the game is released in September, and I doubt they will be able to change anything in that amount of time.
Still we can wish.

The game will be released between september and november so if it's released in november, there's some time to add some Greek units

Just a question, what's new kingdom Egypt and how different is it from Hollywood Egypt?
New Kingdom is the time of the most well known Pharaohs (ca 1500- 1050 BC). Ekhnaton, Tutankhamon, Ramses II and III.
What is the difference compared to what we see in the game?
The Egyptians used only light chariots(chariot archers) and no cavalry. Infantry consisted of light spearmen and axemen.
And of course no the military units did wear the Crown of Upper and Lower Egypt and the pharaohs false beard.
Also as faisal has pointed out the architecture in the game looks fairly medieval with all those domes, which are a Roman invention.
Don´t get me wrong, I love ancient Egypt, but this game has no
place for them cause I love the successor kingdoms too.
Still, I would gladly play a total war game or mod taking place in the time of the New Kingdom giving me the pleasure of smashing the "Sea Peoples" as Ramses III

Precisely. Completelly wrong timeframe. Besides, before Alexander and the influence of Hellenic culture, the Assyrians and then the Persians had control and influence over Egypt.

Of course. So would I. I love Ancient Egypt period too. Just think about the Hittites, Sea People, Mycenen Empire, Minoan Sea Empire, Assyrians, Babylonians, Mithanians and all those different peoples that occupied the area of present Middle East...

Alright. *cocks shotgun* who voted the last option?
In reality this poll is not that good. Most here are very well versed in historical matters, and as such feels insulted when a faction isn't correctly portrayed. Meaning they will always want the accurate depiction.
The poll should have been something more like "How much do you mind the Egyptian looks right now?"
I bet we would see a lot of people in the 50% range, people that would prefer the Ptolomaic Empire but aren't that much against the odd units. In essence the people that just want a number of Hellenistic units and besides that are interested in interesting units. And I can understand them. Chariots while very much inaccurate will be highly interesting units to play with.

Kraxis, you are one of the guys you describe as "versed in history" and I've seen you defend historical accuracy in various non-important issues. And I've seen you defend your position with quite a passion, too.
Yet, in this whole Egyptian story (and generally, when it comes to RTW and historical accuracy) you systematically trash the "we want historical accuracy" crowd, and you defend CA.
Makes me wonder... are you CAs historical advisor? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Please, say yes... so we have someone to throw the stones at for the Egyptian abomination, since all CA guys have left the .org for good http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Ohhh... I wish I wish so much
I don't feel I trash people or oppinions, at least that is not what I intend to. I just feel it not right to be personally affected by this, as some have it seems.
I'm very let down by what the Egyptian faction appears to be now, but at the same time I think it is a bit too early to be outraged. We don't know if IGN presented all the units, thus we can't be certain there are no Hellenistic units.
And let me correct you a bit, I have defended the Iberian Bull Warrior and some other things where the more determined 'historical accuracy' people have been, lets just say negative. But I guess this is more because I'm a middleground.
I'm willing to let a lot go by me without getting all riled up, but I certainly want as accurate a depiction as all. So I can basically work both sides of the fence. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
