Posted this over at legiontotalwar.com (http://www.legiontotalwar.com/), but I want this community's opinion also. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif
Well, if you view this pic (http://www.gamedaily.com/pc/title/screenshots/?num=6&id=3043&source=00001) in high resolution (click it) and take a peak at the mini map in the bottom left corner, you'll see little white dots dotting the map. These quite obviously are cities and each province appears to have a city (although in some provinces you can't see the city).
Knowing this, which cities do you think will be included in Rome: Total War?
A few I think will be in:
Roma
Carthago
Damascus
Londinium
Syracuse
Byzantium
Athenae
Sparta
Eburacum (as seen in a screenshot)
Jerusalem
Alexandria
Memphis
Lugdunum
Taracco
Caesarea
Capua
Cyrene
Corinth
Thebes
Uh... that's all I can think of... there's obviously alot more

Bibracte perhaps? In Julius Caesar's commentaries he describes it as the largest and richest town of the Aedui. (one of the more powerful Gallic tribes)
Bibracte is also where a council of the various Gallic tribes selected Vercingetorix to lead them in rebellion against against Caesar. After defeating the rebellion, Caesar's troops also wintered there.

A few more cities
Carthago Nova
Massilia
Narbo
Arretium
Gades (?)
Moguntiacum (?) -- I remember seeing this somewhere
Mediolanum
Antioch
I really hope they add Pergemum, the ancient city in Turkey. It was a very important city for the many people who owned it and was so high that it was said to be the best lookout for foriegn invaders (iirc)
Sarmiszegethusa, the ancient capital of Dacia. Also Buridava, Argedava, Piroboridava, Olbia, Histria, Tomis, Callatis, Apollonia etc.
As a slight aside, the border forts with Persia like Dura Europa etc, will probably be major points.

In Hellas (plus those already mentioned):
Pella
Korinthos
Argos
Gortys
Kydonia
Rhodes
Ierapytna
Olus
Alikarnassos
Samos
Delos
Pergamon
Ephesos
Miletos
Priene
Sikyon
Some cities in Thessaly, Epirus and Aetolia should be thrown in for good measure...
Oh, I think I've listed far too many. But of the abovementioned, I think that Pella, Korinthos, the two of the 4 Cretan cities (Gortys and Kydonia, most probably), Pergamon, Ephesos, Milytos and maybe Sikyon are absolutely must.
Bah, we'll see...
i bet you there will be
persepolis
babylon
thats all i can think of

First of all it's Pompeii, Pompey was a roman general -- one of the guys in the first triumvirate.
Secondly, Vesuvius's eruption is out of RTW's timeframe. Vesuvius erupted in 79 ad, RTW ends in and around 14 ad.
so I dont think Vesuvius erupting in RTW is feasible... at least on its historic date.
but then again, vesuvius was the first recorded volcano eruption meaning that were plenty before that, just not recorded http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif
edited because in the original post I seemed rude

Don't forget the city of GAH, run by the vanyians. If u can defeat the dreaded vanyians u automatically win the game or the game erases itself from ur hard-drive or whatever annoys u the most http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

No, just all the popup notices now begin and end with GAH and you get a special Easter Egg advisor named Vanya who likes to cut heads off and make head soup. GAH
