I was thinking about how to put processes at work, to work for you here in the community.

Would you all like a central workplace, to upload, share, track progress, and discuss current mods, like we do the development of software and web projects at work?

I think it could be really handy, but let me know if you'd like this.

Heck, I could even make some modding tools http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif

ShadeHonestus,

I know that you have been away for a while, but things are different now. The Engineers Guild is for mod development only. All the mod threads were cluttering up the Dungeon so they have now been given a seperate forum. The Alchemist Lab is the place to discuss general modding issues.

TosaInu has been busy with providing modders with an upload space. I am a bit unknown with how it all works, but we are planning to make it public soon.

These are always handy Could you perhaps make a unitprod editor that doesn't screw up the file? Also GnomeEditor is really bad in consequently setting the columnwidth. So that tool would be at the top of my list. Perhaps you could ask the community what kind of tools they want. There are loads of (starting) modders who get stuck only because they
accidently forgot a tab so automating the process will be of great for them.

Cheers, Duke John

Excellent and thank you for the kind update as to the goings on here. Great to see things moving along for the modders out there. As I don't know what your upload area will be like, I would suggest an upload area for "in progress" works to be shared between groups of modders, but perhaps this is already underway as well.

I'll put those tools on the list and hopefully lay some groundwork for them in the next month. Actually, the unit prod editor could be an online tool with a save feature, then downloadable once a person is happy with it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-2thumbsup.gif

ShadeHonestus, I think that's a really good idea. We could also upload programs that were having trouble programming.

What's your tool going to be?

I know which tool I would put at the top of my list:

So are u going to do it?? Please say yes http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-thumbsup.gif

I'd be willing to help in any small way I can, though I know nearly nothing about VB, as I said in my other post:

Everyone could lend a hand. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-gossip.gif

TosaInu has been busy with providing modders with an upload space.

It is a great idea. I have almost finished a SP campaign for the Reconquista mod but I cannot upload anywhere because of the size (about 12-15 MB zipped). I am the only developer and tester, so the advance is really slow.

Regarding tools, How about an easy tool for modifying bif files? For example with templates of flags and shields, with eagles, lions, half-moons and other usual items present in those things. Able also to choose a colour palette (for example in yellow and green, or blue and gray)...
For me one of the most difficult things is to create new bif files with all the requirements for the game.

Cheers.

Or even just a BIF maker that doesn't crop magenta. That'd be cool. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/ceasaryes.gif

Only a few days after my idea, the solution is here (see the post about the new tool for flags and shields by Lysander). http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin....t=19290 (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=5;t=19290)
