First off, a sort of belated hello. I've posted here just once before but rudely didn't introduce myself. I'm getting back into MTW after a year or so's break, and it's entirely due to the great guides by frogbeastegg. They really made me realise why I was so awful when I first played the game.

Anyway, I was (as the English in about 1220) conducting a small raid into Spain to distract the Pope from my HRE ambitions. I unexpectedly took Cordoba, but didn't really want the hassle of holding it so I slashed, burned and withdrew. Some pretty pathetic rebels cropped up the next year - a unit of militia and a unit of spearmen - but it was the Spanish patriots that really amused me.

The loyal Spaniards, trying desperately to remove the yoke of English opression, raised a valiant force of a trebuchet crew. Just the one. I know the game occasionally makes odd random choices, but that was just weird.

Playing Medmod, high, as the Burgundians, I had crushed the Egyptians into Arabia, leaving them to stew in that tiny little province. Then they died.

The Egyptians then reemerged in that province (I hadn't bothered taking it - had other matters to attend to). The Egyptian sultan reemerged with his bodyguard unit and 16 units of catapults. Needless to say, the Rebels semt him packing.

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif Welcome back foop.

That trebuchet idea probably sound pretty good in the rebel planning session after they opened the second keg of beer. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/barrel.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/idea.gif

Welcome foop.
Nothing to do with rebellions, but I recently came across a 3* trebuchet general commanding an Almohad army. My eyes lit up, as I knew the AI would probably leave the guy in an exposed spot, ready for my Jinetes to kill before the battle started.
Lo and behold, the army started out all together, and then the rest of them marched off to a better defensive position. Funnily enough I won the battle fairly easily. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif
