I have a small examn about chaos and order (mathematics) this afternoon and I found this poem in a book:

"For want of a nail, the horseshoe was lost"
"For want of a horseshoe, the horseman was lost"
"For want of a horseman, the battle was lost"
"From loss of the battle, the kingdom was lost"

I liked it,

I always liked that poem. Now I bring extra nails with me when I play online. If my horsies don't need them, the nails always help with the coffins (usually mine)

I think the poem is relevant to all Total War in general, but truly multiplayer specifically.

It’s a reminder that little things mean a lot in combat. That in an even up contest (only possible in human vs. human encounters), the whole outcome could well be decided by a particular small action in unit selection, or troop movement on the field.

And because the fog of war is sometimes so thick it hard to tell if you are winning or loosing, the concept in this poem could keep your focus on point. That is, that you should never give a moments pause to consider which might be true. You might miss the that one most important detail that would be turning the tide of the battle in your favor for sure.

I know, bla bla bla (it’s hell being a warrior-philosopher http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif ).

I know what you mean Tomi. You see the other chap routing, you lean back... and then you meet that cavalry detachment you somehow didnt see sooner. your infantry, allready bloodied and exhausted, routs on impact. your cavalry, down to there last horses gets chained in the process

All thats left between the enemy and your defeat, are a couple of xbows without ammo....

hastely, you type in the words.. gg and rematch?
