Greetings,

Can some kind soul please explain to me, very clearly as I am to dumb to understand the manual obviously, the procedeure for creating pre-defined groups? I have tried and tried but can not seem to do it. I must be missunderstanding the manual. Also once you have created these groups how do you select the group as a whole? I cant seem to do that either.

Thanks in advance

Hi Akiyama http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

I play MTW: VI and group like this:

- On the battle screen left click your first unit for the group
- Then holding the CTRL button left click the other units to go in the group 1 at a time. They should all be highlighted.
- Then at the top left of the screen you should have a group button. Left click this and you have a group.

Unfortunately the group button is next to the rout button which has caused me problems in the past.

Also I think you can group by number but I don't so someone else may advise on that.

I am at work at the moment so apologise if this advice is incorrect.

Yakobu,

Thanks for your help. My problem though is that I am trying to create numbered sub groups, for lack of a better word. The manual refers to them as pre-Defined groups, each having it's own assigned number that you should then be able to select. I can't seem to be able to assign units to these groups and the manual is not vey clear, at least not to my humble newbie self

Thanks again.

Cheers

Don't use numbered groups much myself but IIRC, once you have grouped some units, you can select the group and then SHIFT+CTRL+number will assign the number to the group and CTRL+number will select it, you can then assign group formations (on the upper RH corner) to those groups.

Your help did the trick Thanks gents. I handed the Koreans a devestating defeat last night Just watching the armies take formation on such a large scale is a thrill in it's own right. The no-dachi and naginata troops fighting for the bridgehead was outstanding The explosions of the Korean thunder bombs are incredible to watch

By keeping up a steady hail of arrows and lead shot from my missle troops and with the no-dachi and naginata troops thinning out the Korean troops at the foot of the bridge I was able to slam my heavy cav across making way for my yari and arch cav to cross and deploy The Koreans counter attacked fiercly but I was able to thin their ranks before they closed with my footmen who were in a killing frenzy The brave Korean general & his troops finaly broke and started to flee

Time ran out before the Korean army completelt fled the field of battle but I won on casualties inflicted having taken 900 something heads

I love this game http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

Glad you worked it out Akiyama, shame I'm playing MTW: VI.

If you have trouble in future you may want to run a search using keywords. The button is at the top of the main page. I find it very useful.
