Coolest unit on the battlefield :D

It's definately the coolest unit imo,... The thunderbombers!!

they took out 59 YS with just two shots (and some SA which were behind them! hmmmm I loved to see them run http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif after which my nice MHC chased the army down (i was outnumbered 4 to 1 or something), but then the TB attacked again... THEY KILLED THEIR ENTIRE UNIT except for 2 puny men !!!

how could this happen ?

I knew they'd sometimes accidently blow up or attack your own troops, but 28 men ?? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/mad.gif. Anyways,though they are cool, they are a bit underpowered imo...

they dont fire in the rain (weird...)
They only have 4 shots
they are useless in HTH battle...

the only thing they can do is demoralize the enemy and defend from a hill (which they do best...

Mithrandir, I love the TB too.

I liked to use them in bridge battles. My favourite tactic was to send a unit of Korean Spearmen across the bridge with the TB right behind. Then when the Japanese would move up to stop the crossing, I'd tell the TB to attack them. Since the fighting is at such close quarters in bridge battles, it wouldn't matter if the TB hit the Japanese, the Korean Spearmen or themselves, they'd take a good bit of the enemy with them. This would usually get the Japanese units running and opening up the bridgehead for the rest of the army.

You forget one thing though, they get killed easily by archer units...they have nowhere close to the range of conventional archers...

Always the enemy in MP targets such units with projectile units. U just have chances when the enemy attacks you or just imagine putting 2 of those in the enemies rear while engaged... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

True Mithrandir, but that is just another reason why the Korean Spearmen are so important - to catch more arrows than the TB do. Gotta keep them very close together though (as if the spearmen weren't nervous enough).

It just happened again! lost another unit of TB even though they DID kill over 70 units, after that they caused the first kills on my side 26 out of a 30 men died in a terrible sea of fire...

I think the coolest unit has to be the Battlefield Ninja. I like to use these buggers on the flanks of my army, then after i start h2h combat i move them behind and start throwing their ninja stars into the backs of the enemy, or i go after the enemy general.
