Tech Tree Resources

My copy of Medieval TW came with a manual, but either I've lost it or it never had a tech tree insert included. Is there an official or comprehensive tech tree file online? I've downloaded several of the files on this site, one being Ciecato's MTW Techtree in pdf format. It shows ship development, but I see no reference for getting the compass.

Is there an official Medieval tech tree source online?

Can anyone tell me how to acquire the compass?
