Moscow
Napoleon (France) Vs. Russia 1807(?)
Copenhagen
UK vs. Denmark 1802

Quite a few smaller battles during Frondé, I think.
I think Germany sieged Paris during the second half of the 19th century (France lost a lot of land and tried to get it back in WW1).
Yes, the siege of Paris in the Franco-Prussian war and also the following Paris commune.

Washington - 1812
Vienna - 1809 (Aspern-Essling, Wagram and the siege).
- 1945
Prague - 1945
Constantinople - 1st siege by muslims
- 1453
Rome - numerous times (I'll look it up later. But at least by Alarik, Theodoric, a few French kings IIRC one or two Holy Roman Emperors and Charles V.
Maybe London during the civil war between Stephen and Mathilda.

- 1453
Those are only a few... Constantinople was sieged like twenty times in its long history, and only when it was in a very weak state, against massive artillery, did it fall to Mehmed...

- 1453
Certainly not first, the muslims first seiged constantinople in 674 until 678,the second time it was in 717 till 718.There was an attempted Seige by the Sassanians and the Avars(626)prior to the arab expansion, but they both abandoned the attempt, the Bulgars attempted to also seige it in 813, 913, and 924.The Russians attempted to seige the Constantinople by sea in 860, 907, and 941 it was probably to compel the byzantines for better trade deals.on 1204 the crusader of the fourth crusade stormed it,it was reclaimed in 1261.The turks seiged Constantinople twice first in 1422 and the last in 1453.
If you ask me thats a heck of a lot of seiges.

I knew that 1453 was not the first siege... not even close. But I did not know the date, and a very useful website I know was unfortunately down... so...

Constantinople is apparently the most-sieged city of all ages, with Jerusalem second.

Jeruzalem ...?

Jerusalem was seiged a ton of times,by egyptians, persians, macedonians, romans, parthians, sassanids, byzantines, arabs, turks, crusaders
,then egyptians again,then turks,then Britain.
Its a major hub for 3 religons obviously thats why it was seiged,of course before the other 2 religions came to existense it was a rich city, especially since trade caravans pass through it.

The vikings battled for London several times and besieged it as well, with a low success rate. I'm not sure if London qualified as a capital back in those days.

In 1471 London was besieged by rebels led by Fauconberg during the Wars of the Roses. London refused their entry and succesfully beat off two assualts.

1170, Strongbow Fitzgilbert and Maurice Fitzgerald being besieged in Dublin, then leading a desperate Cavalry charge out the gates and completely routing the besieging irish forces led by Rory O connor.

1812.
And almost all of the big Napoleonic battles were for capitals. Napoleons Grand strategy of divide conquer and take the enemy's strategy, meant that almost all of the battles had the capital on the line.
