How do I edit the names in the game ?

I've just started a new game with the Russians on Early. Only then I noticed that the Russian king is given the not so cool title of Prince which makes him no less different than his heirs. So I was wondering whether there was a way I could edit the king's title and change from Prince to something like Tsar or Emperor.

At the same time can I edit the name of any particular title that the governorship of a province gives a general instead of just Duke Of ...... Also, is there a way to like insert your own family name into the game and then a unit that you create will use that name, for example like the russian name Ivanovich into something else ?.

To change the things you want to change, look in your Medieval directory and find the Loc folder. Open up the language folder (Eng if your using English), and open up the names text file. It's probably best to make a backup copy of the file just to be on the safe side.
Either skim through until you get to a part that says //faction leader names, or use the find function, and then change whatever you want to under there.
To add in names, find the set you want, near the bottom of the same file, and just change one of the names in the curly brackets (not the square ones).

You also need to go to the faction_specific.txt file, and change the title there.

Thanks Schrodinger's Cat & Earl Of Sandwich, you guys really made my day. Now the Prince Of Novgorod is given the imperial title of Tsar and the HRE Emperor has been given a new imperial but much more glamourous title, Lord Kaiser.

Btw, feel free to add anymore editing tips that you guys may know but I did not ask about it. One thing I've learned from MTW is that, it never hurts to know a little bit more about things than what you need to know.

Some of the more senior members here have found almost all there is to know about editing the game, and virtually all the knowledge is somewhere in there.
