I cast my vote for the Pontic Bronze Shield Pikemen. Glad to see Pontus get such a unique spear unit. And here I thought Pontus was going to be assigned a generic pike unit like Eastern Heavy Infantry and nothing more.

On a different note I'm a little worried that the Carthaginian Slingers are just a renamed, generalized version of Balearic Slingers. I sincerely hope the Balearic islands' finest make it into the game.

Hopefully, there'll be a Balearic Slingers. CA's unit names have become blander while they're adding fantasy units to look the game look cool. It doesn't make sense.

I've seen a at least two TC episodes with Balearic slingers in, and when looking at the map the island looks like its there, so there is a pretty good chance they will be in the game

I was unaware that the Pontic kingdom was known for its pike units (or that it even had them). Does anyone have specific info about this?

The Pontic kingdom under Mithridates (Evpator Dionysios) the VI, was extremely heavily influenced by the hellenistic world. It's leader was of mixed Persian and Greek ancestry (his line was installed there after during the 4th century BC) and it's armies have by large adopted the hellenistic model (heavy on pikes and cavalry etc.).

Of course I know very little about how the Pontic army fought in the 3rd century BC. I'd expect a mix of hellenistic and Persian elements.

One thing, though: Pontus was a rich kingdom and during the Mithridatic wars it mostly relied on mercenaries.

The pikes are intriguing indeed, but we have already seen its basics before. I want to see if the slingers are indeed a dumbed down version of the Balearic Slingers or 'true' Carthies.

The Carthaginian Slingers are putting up a respectable fight but I think most people would prefer to see a high value unit instead of a low level one.

I'm damn curious to see how the Pontic units look. I hope they resemble a mish mash of Western and Eastern influences.
