I got an H6 Ninja that can kill an h4 general (very high for a general) with over 60% of chance and he already killed Lord Uesugi and Lord Hojo... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

I just finished my first SP campaign yesterday and the one thing I'll do differently in my next campaign is ... THE GEISHA RUSH! Find a safe province far from the front and head straight for building an infamous ninja house and start pumping out geishas.

In my last campaign the Hojo and Useugi held on to a small corner of Japan, totally surrounded by my 16 unit armies in all adjacent territories, my units being of high honour with maximum weapon and armour upgrades. Still they almost wiped out my clan with a handful of geishas. My daimyos were running around the map, fleeing for their lives from these delicate semi-prostitutes. Why build armies when you can do much better with kimono-clad women wielding hairpins?

The idea of geishas being master assassins is a bit amusing, but I think it's a big mistake to let such a joke become a dominating feature in the game.

It took me a while to realise this, so maybe it will be helpful to mention it - the best defence against geishas is to have a lot of ninjas: they are better than you might think at getting rid of them. As soon as an enemy geisha appears in or near your lands, order several ninjas to assassinate her, and you should be OK.
Otherwise, find out where the enemy's geisha house is and do a port invasion if possible, destroying the geisha house if you don't think you can hold the province.

I've always played SP and I've always won before any of the other clans had geishas. I've only had geishas in one game and I only did it because I had never seen them before. Am I doing something wrong?

Depending on what you like. I like to keep the campaign long even if I could win earlier.

In my opinion, long campaign tents to get into stalemate and very big defensive/offensive battle but it does offer some interesting strategies/tactics to win the game. Shorter campaign tends to focus on smaller tactical battle and strategic troop deployment/territory control and expansion.

Well, I don't exactly rush through and I've only finished four or five full campaigns but I've never seen my enemies use geishas.

After almost 1 year I also reinstalled STW to give it a try... still the best game!

I just finished an expert campaign by Uesugi 1530. Really exciting battles for the first 8 years. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

If you want a tough SP game: Play the Mongol Invasion Scenario on Expert as the Hojo. It is the hardest single player experience you can get.

Also the alternate 1530 start is quite interesting.

Always play on Expert... and I have played some VERY long campaigns, and I have never seen the AI build a geisha. They are a bit cheesy, though, so I'm not too disapointed. High honour ninjas are debalancing enough.

I never did it until today myself Fast, but you select your emmissary and click on the enemy stack of units...you have no control over the asking price, if they accept then they will fight for you, its a pretty quick way to raise troops actually. If you take a province this way, expect it to revolt.
