Anyone remember this great precursor game to MTW. It was very similar if a bit archaic but the ideas were the same. You could play just the Mongols as Temuchin or play the world conquest mode and conquer the same lands. I used to play as the English.

The similiarites are remarkable. You had kings with heirs, revolts, provinces, similiar units per nation, a campaign map and the battle went to a battle screen as well. I spent many a summers day playing that game in my youth. My favorite part ( I was young) was spending time with the queen so I could have kids http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I loved this game. I wonder how much better adjusted a person i could have become had i not lost so many hours to this game in my youth.

i too played as england, while my brother played as the mongols. the ironic thing was that i would expand rapidly, improving loyalty only as needed to avoid revolt, while my brother would expand slowly, building a very stable and happy empire.

I played on the old 8 bit NES. Still have it. Sadly my NES is dead.

There were two other great games that were similar, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and one I can't recall.

I loved all four kingdoms. Mongol and Japan were my favs, England was good but I think it was the easiest. Byzantine was the hardest, but I liked that.

I loved that game. I really enjoyed the other Koei games that were similar to Genghis Khan's gameplay. The other great games I played like that were Nobunaga's Ambition and Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

It would be nice if Koei would make newer versions of those games for the PC.

Yeah I loved their game too. My other favorite was Liberty or Death. I probably played that one for years http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif

:) They have all of the Koei games for DL, and Ghenghis Khan was one of the first I got here. Great fun. I remember wasting most of my youth playing Ghenghis Khan and GK2 on my NES and SNES.

I played RTK, all of them, and they were great as well, the Empire management part especially, the combat was a bit lacking though.

All in all the Underdogs are great, but be careful as a few of their files are corrupted. Just be sure to SCAN THEM BEFORE DOWNLOADING. Trust me, otherwise you'll be sorry.

First post here. Word up.

Loved Romance of the three kingdoms And I wish totalwar would use something like its empire management system. Tech trees just are not realistic...especially with such a realistic combat system that total war has

Oh yeah, didnt totalwar build off of Sid Meir's Gettysberg?
It looked very similar to totalwar...but not near as much replay value. Shogun was so awesome I still love the music from that game http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I have played Ghengis Khan on the Amiga 500 and Ghengis Khan 2 on PC. It's not more than 3-4 years ago I last played it. It has a lot of MTW fetures and I was very happy when I got MTW. It was kind of Ghengis Khan 3 http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
