I don't think so. I made a campaign with six and got it to the second turn but then the pope kept appearing and crashing the game (since I'd removed him).

Try crete......and make it that he can't build ports.....so will NEVER escape..also delete the seas around crete.

The Patrician mod got round the problem by sticking him in Malta and giving him a really big army that he had no way of supporting.
As long as he doesn't have a port and some ships, and nobody conquers him, he won't be able to pick a fight with anybody.
or just play using Muslim faction slots
