What changes in difficulty?

im sort of a newbie to the game...only play it like twice a week...and wondered what changes in the difficulties. Opponents valor goes up? smarter AI? i play custom and always win on easy...like everyone else...but have trouble on medium.

On a higher difficulty level, the AI reacts better to your moves (at least on the battle map, don't know if it also does in campmap). You'll see it withdrawing a bit when being shot, go to loose formation. It sets more ambushes,...
Also on hard, the AI gets a 10% combat bonus and on expert the AI gets a 40% combat bonus (almost equivalent to a +1 valor bonus) and a +4 morale bonus.
